Citizen Attesa and Hakuto-R Collaborate on Limited Edition Lunar Exploration Watches

Citizen has announced the release of three limited edition models from its Attesa line, designed in collaboration with the private lunar exploration program Hakuto-R. Developed in partnership with ispace Inc., these models are set for release on November 7, 2024, and reflect Citizen’s continued support of lunar resource development. Each watch in the collection draws on Citizen’s advanced technology and is inspired by the moon’s mysterious, dark expanse.

Space-Inspired Design with Advanced Materials

The three limited edition models—CC4067-66E, AT8287-62E, and CB0285-63E—are crafted with Citizen’s Super Titanium, a material that is five times harder than stainless steel while remaining lightweight and hypoallergenic. This material has been used in Hakuto-R’s lunar landers, showcasing Citizen’s involvement in cutting-edge space technology. The watches feature a sleek, black design with Duratect DLC coating, offering high resistance to scratches and wear.

The dials incorporate a three-dimensional crystal pattern, evoking the depths of space, while the silver accents on the sapphire bezels and dial rings provide contrast, reminiscent of distant light in the darkness. Each model is distinguished by its precise, technical aesthetic, designed to reflect Citizen’s commitment to both functionality and innovation.

Technological Advancements and Movement Precision

The CC4067-66E is powered by Citizen’s F950 movement, a high-frequency, light-powered Eco-Drive GPS satellite radio system capable of receiving time information from satellites in as little as three seconds. This model offers world time functionality across 39 time zones and features high-speed hand movements for precise adjustments. It is limited to 2,300 pieces and priced at 374,000 yen.

The AT8287-62E and CB0285-63E models feature Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology with radio-controlled timekeeping, capable of automatically adjusting to the correct time across 26 time zones. Both models are equipped with durable Super Titanium™ cases, water-resistant up to 10 ATM. The AT8287-62E is limited to 2,900 pieces and priced at 209,000 yen, while the CB0285-63E is limited to 1,900 pieces and priced at 192,500 yen.

These watches demonstrate Citizen’s emphasis on precision and reliability, ideal for those who require accurate timekeeping across the globe.

Citizen’s Partnership with Hakuto-R

Citizen began supporting the Hakuto-R program in 2019 as part of its collaboration with ispace Inc., a space startup focused on lunar resource development. The partnership highlights Citizen’s interest in pushing the boundaries of both timekeeping and space exploration. The Hakuto-R program aims to establish a sustainable presence on the moon, with Citizen contributing advanced materials and technology to support the mission.

The Attesa Hakuto-R collaboration models represent the fusion of space exploration and horological innovation, further cementing Citizen’s role in exploring new frontiers.
