MoMA UNIMATIC Modello Cinque Watches: A Tribute to De Stijl’s Artistic Legacy

UNIMATIC presents the limited-edition Modello Cinque collection in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), celebrating the famed De Stijl art movement. Known for its minimalist forms and primary colors, this collection features three distinct models, each accentuated by blue, red, or yellow on the seconds hand and a matching leather strap. These watches combine Italian craftsmanship and Swiss precision in homage to De Stijl’s legacy.

Design and Features

Each Modello Cinque watch exhibits a 36mm brushed stainless steel case and a matte white dial marked by a black MoMA logo, highlighting the clean lines characteristic of De Stijl. Super-LumiNova® C1 on the dial enhances visibility, while black markers and a double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal offer optimum legibility. The Modello Cinque includes a quick-release leather strap in a primary color and a black TPU strap for an alternative, understated look.

The collection consists of three models:

  • U5S-MoMA-R: Featuring a red leather strap and a red minute hand.
  • U5S-MoMA-Y: Adorned with a yellow leather strap and yellow minute hand.
  • U5S-MoMA-B: Paired with a blue leather strap and blue minute hand.

Each model is limited to 75 pieces, individually numbered on the caseback alongside the UNIMATIC x MoMA engraving, further underscoring the exclusivity of this collection.

Movement and Durability

At the heart of the Modello Cinque is the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, ensuring high precision with a frequency of 28,800bph, a 38-hour power reserve, and hacking seconds functionality. The caseback and crown’s robust construction support a water resistance rating of 300 meters (1000 feet), making it a reliable companion for underwater excursions as well as a stylish statement piece.
