Squale and Gnomon Watches have teamed up again in 2024 to release the Squale 1521 Sole Cascante. This exclusive edition pays tribute to the iconic 1521 series, blending timeless design with a fresh interpretation inspired by sunlight cascading through the ocean depths.
The Sole Cascante builds on the legendary 1521 design with its recognizable “Von Büren” case, a hallmark of Squale’s dive watch heritage. Measuring 42mm in diameter and just 12.5mm thick, the stainless steel case is built for exploration, offering 500 meters of water resistance. A bi-lux finish—satin-brushed and polished—adds a modern touch while staying true to its rugged roots.
A Dial Inspired by Sunlit Waters
The star of this timepiece is its cobalt-blue sunburst dial, designed to mimic the mesmerizing effect of sunlight filtering through water. Known as “Sole Cascante,” or “cascading sun,” this dynamic design radiates light from the 12 o’clock position, creating a sense of movement and depth.
Legibility is a priority for dive watches, and the Sole Cascante delivers with applied SuperLuminova-coated indices and bold, contrasting hands. The orange minute hand stands out, ensuring the watch performs as well underwater as it does on land.
Proven Performance
Powered by the Swiss ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, the Sole Cascante is built for reliability and precision. With a 120-click unidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a screw-down crown at 4 o’clock, this watch is as durable as it is beautiful.
Straps and Versatility
To suit a variety of styles, the Sole Cascante offers multiple strap options, including an orange Tropic rubber strap and a criss-cross rubber strap with quick-release spring bars. For the first time in the 1521 collection, Squale introduces a 20mm stainless steel bracelet with semi-integrated end links. This lightweight bracelet pairs vintage inspiration with modern functionality, including a diving extension for wetsuit use.
