Rado Unveils New High-Tech Ceramic Captain Cook and True Square Skeleton Models
The radiant world of high-tech ceramic has long been one of Rado’s most innovative and inspirational environments. From the renowned Master of Materials comes a stunning duo of new Captain Cook models in vibrant, polished blue monobloc high-tech ceramic cases, limited to just 262 units each. These models complement a recent edition in a deep, matte blue. Additionally, Rado introduces a new True Square Skeleton model, arriving just in time for summer, featuring a friendly, round-cornered case in matte yellow high-tech ceramic—an exciting addition to the acclaimed True Square product line.
Captivating New Designs
The two new Captain Cook models feature polished bezel inserts in either sunshine yellow or burnt orange, set against a beautifully polished blue high-tech ceramic case. The new True Square Skeleton, also crafted in high-tech ceramic but in a sunny yellow hue, perfectly complements any skin tone, enhancing your summer look. These models showcase Rado’s unique high-tech ceramic material, celebrated for its luxurious feel against the skin.
Precision and Craftsmanship
Both new models house the esteemed Rado R808 automatic movement, which offers an 80-hour power reserve and features an antimagnetic Nivachron™ hairspring. This movement is rigorously tested in five positions for optimal accuracy. The True Square Skeleton model offers a mesmerizing view of the R808 calibre, with a skeletonized top plate and dial assembly, showcasing its intricate Côtes de Genève decoration beneath a flat sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both faces.
The Captain Cook models also boast skeletonized accents, with a horizontally brushed nickel-colored movement finish visible through the signature box-shaped crystal with anti-reflective coating. The polished high-tech ceramic inserts, available in orange or yellow, feature engraved lacquered markers at each five-minute interval and a white Super-LumiNova® treated triangle at 12 o’clock. The luminescent hour and minute hands, second sweeper tip, and polished rhodium applied indices ensure excellent readability in any setting. The titanium case back, fitted with an additional sapphire crystal, offers a full view of the finely skeletonized movement, oscillating weight, minute-wheel bridge, and sweeper systems, highlighted by 25 jewels for enhanced reliability and precision.
Superior Comfort and Durability
The new models come with sporty, matte-textured blue rubber straps featuring high-tech ceramic-covered closures, available in polished or matte finishes to match their respective cases. These straps are not only lightweight and body-friendly, adapting quickly to the wearer’s skin temperature, but also extremely durable, perfect for any adventure.
The Unmatched Appeal of High-Tech Ceramic
Rado’s high-tech ceramic offers a unique blend of lightness, scratch resistance, and durability, making it a beloved material among watch enthusiasts. The sensuous feel of high-tech ceramic, combined with its advanced scientific production process, sets it apart from more common ceramics. Introduced by Rado in 1986, high-tech ceramic has won the hearts of many due to its exquisite comfort and silky touch against the skin.
High-tech ceramic is created through a meticulous process involving pure powders of aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and silicon nitride, which are shaped and baked at high temperatures to achieve the desired properties. Rado’s innovative methods involve injecting these powders into precision molds, sintering them at 1450°C, and then machining and finishing them into the final product. This process results in a case that boasts a hardness of 1,250 on the Vickers scale, ready to be transformed into an impressive Rado timepiece.
Rado continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking with these new models, combining advanced materials, precision craftsmanship, and elegant design to create timepieces that are as durable as they are beautiful.
