IWC Schaffhausen has announced its partnership with Apple Original Films for the highly anticipated Formula One™ racing feature directed by Joseph Kosinski. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and seven-time Formula One™ world champion Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films, the film will feature IWC as a sponsor of the fictional APX GP team. Selected models from IWC’s Pilot’s Watches collection will be worn by various characters in the movie, which will be filmed at real Grand Prix™ races, including the British Grand Prix™ at Silverstone this weekend.
Over the past decade, IWC Schaffhausen has developed a deep connection with Formula One™. In 2013, the Swiss luxury watchmaker became the Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, the same year team driver Lewis Hamilton joined IWC as a brand ambassador. This new partnership with Apple Original Films further emphasizes IWC’s commitment to motorsport, racing, and engineering.
“We are a brand with a long-standing connection to motorsport, so we could not miss out on the opportunity to become a part of this project. We are thrilled that the movie will be shot using race cars on real racetracks, and we cannot wait to see what an incredible experience this will be on the screen,” said Chris Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.
In the movie, IWC will sponsor APX GP, a fictional 11th team on the Formula One™ grid. IWC’s branding will appear on the front wing and the Halo of the race cars, the driver’s race suits, helmets, gloves, team uniforms, and in the garage. Timepieces from IWC’s Pilot collection, including the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 in stainless steel with a black dial, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN in black zirconium oxide ceramic, and the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 in stainless steel with a black dial, will be featured as the official team watches.
The film, made in collaboration with Formula One™, will be set against the backdrop of actual Grand Prix™ weekends. It stars Brad Pitt as a former driver returning to Formula One™, with Damson Idris playing his teammate on the fictional APX GP team. The cast also includes Academy Award® nominee Kerry Condon, Academy Award® winner Javier Bardem, and Emmy Award® winner and Golden Globe Award® nominee Tobias Menzies. The screenplay, written by Academy Award® nominee Ehren Kruger, promises to immerse viewers in the thrilling and cinematic world of Formula One™. Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release the film globally in theaters and in IMAX in North America on June 27, 2025, and internationally from June 25, 2025.
