Certina Enhances Support for Sea Turtle Conservancy with New DS SUPER PH1000M STC
Certina is strengthening its long-term partnership with the non-profit Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) through the release of a vibrant new timepiece: the DS SUPER PH1000M STC. Since 2017, Certina and STC have collaborated to protect sea turtles and their habitats. Drawing inspiration from the historic DS SUPER PH1000M of 1970, this striking watch features a blue dial with orange accents and luminous indexes. It is powered by the Powermatic 80 movement, offering an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron™ balance spring.
Sea Turtles Facing Extinction
Founded in 1959, the Florida-based STC is dedicated to ensuring the survival of sea turtles through research, awareness campaigns, and practical measures to aid injured or endangered turtles. Coincidentally, 1959 also marked the introduction of Certina’s DS concept and its turtle symbol, creating a 65-year-long connection between the brand and sea turtles. In addition to financial support, Certina produces informative content about STC projects, organizes joint press events, and uses special POS displays to raise awareness. Sea turtles face numerous threats, including rising sea levels and temperatures, plastic pollution, beachfront development, and disorienting lighting.
A Dive Watch Built for Depths
The DS SUPER PH1000M STC is a maritime timepiece designed for extreme depths, offering water resistance up to 100 bar (1,000 meters). The Powermatic 80 movement ensures precise and reliable performance, complemented by the DS (Double Security) build, a unidirectional turning bezel with a security system, automatic winding, and an 80-hour power reserve. The anti-magnetic Nivachron™ balance spring further enhances the watch’s reliability. The dial features the distinctive blue of the STC logo, with orange accents matching those on other DS Super PH1000M models, contrasted by a robust black rubber strap. This impressive diver’s watch is ready for any adventure, whether on land or underwater.
Commitment to Conservation
Certina’s collaboration with the STC since 2017 has seen the release of numerous special edition timepieces, combining horological expertise and craftsmanship with the conservation goals of the STC. A portion of the proceeds from these watches directly supports the STC’s mission. The new DS SUPER PH1000M STC continues this tradition, reinforcing Certina’s dedication to the cause.
The DS SUPER PH1000M STC will be available from authorized Certina retailers worldwide starting in July 2024. For more information, visit Certina.com.
