Casio Unveils EDIFICE Watch Celebrating TOM’S 50th Anniversary
Casio has announced the latest addition to its EDIFICE line of timepieces, which adhere to the brand’s concept of “Speed & Intelligence.” The newly released TOM’S 50th Anniversary Edition EFS-S641TMS is a tribute to TOM’S historic KP47 Starlet race car, a vehicle that propelled TOM’S to fame with a series of record-setting victories.
Established in 1974, TOM’S is a premier Japanese racing team, and EDIFICE has been an official partner since 2013. The KP47 Starlet race car holds a special place in TOM’S history, achieving an impressive record in the 1970s with 22 pole positions, 20 wins, and three series championships. The EFS-S641TMS watch commemorates TOM’S golden anniversary by incorporating design elements from this iconic race car.
The EFS-S641TMS features a design motif inspired by the KP47 Starlet. The dial and leather band loop showcase the car’s distinctive colors of white, red, and green. Additionally, the metal band loop has a tapered shape with two differently sized holes, reminiscent of the car’s side mirror mounting arms.
A standout feature of the watch is its pair of inset dials, which draw inspiration from the TOM’S original Igeta wheels. These dials feature the spoke design of the wheels, resembling a sharp mark (#) in silhouette, ensuring ample light passes through to power the watch. The honeycomb pattern at the 3 o’clock position, crafted with a see-through design and dual-layer construction, is inspired by the race car’s front grille and includes an underlying purple hue, echoing the cylinder head cover of the engine.
