Artisans De Genève, an independent watchmaking workshop, has recently completed a remarkable customization project called “Eternal Green.” This project, commissioned by a passionate watch collector known as Mr. V.B, showcases the workshop’s exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to creating bespoke timepieces.
The Vision Behind Eternal Green
Mr. V.B, a seasoned watch collector, desired a timepiece that not only reflected his personal taste but also embodied the concept of timelessness. He chose the color green as a symbol of life’s enduring and infinite nature. In his own words, “By personalizing one of my watches, I decided not to let it tell an experienced story, but to create its own story, visibly reflecting my desires, choices, who I am and what inspires me.”
The Craftsmanship Involved
The base for this project was the Patek Philippe 5167A, which was meticulously modified to reflect the client’s vision. The heart of the watch, the Calibre 324 movement, was entirely reworked through a process called skeletonization. This intricate technique involved cutting the movement with a wire to reveal the gears and bridges, followed by hand beveling and polishing. The final touch was a PVD treatment in Eternal Green, giving the movement a distinctive and personalized appearance.
The dial was another masterpiece, crafted from a solid brass block. After being beveled and hand-circled, it was coated with a layer of white gold before receiving the Eternal Green PVD treatment. The final addition of SLN points ensures the watch’s readability in low-light conditions.
The Strap and Finishing Touches
To complement the Eternal Green theme, a genuine rubber strap was developed in collaboration with Rubber B. This strap was designed to match the watch’s aesthetics perfectly, featuring a titanium insert for a secure fit. The finishing touches included a handmade balance bridge, mirror-polished to a high sheen, and hands crafted from yellow gold, finished to enhance their brightness.
