Perrelet Unveils the Turbine Skull: A Bold New Take on a Classic Design

Perrelet Turbine Skull Watch on wrist

Perrelet has introduced its latest creation, the Turbine Skull (references A1092/S1 and A1093/S1), a striking watch that marries traditional skull motifs with contemporary design elements. Available in two limited editions of 99 pieces each, the Turbine Skull taps into one of the most iconic themes in modern horology—the skull—while continuing Perrelet’s legacy of innovation, blending their signature Turbine technology with intricate craftsmanship.

Skull Motif: A Blend of Tradition and Modernity

The skull, a symbol rooted in centuries-old Memento Mori traditions, has made a powerful resurgence in modern watchmaking, symbolizing the transient nature of life and the spirit of living in the moment. Perrelet’s Turbine Skull adds its own twist to this trend, with a guilloché-finished sub-dial featuring a three-dimensional skull in relief. As the turbine blades move, this skull design becomes dynamically visible, emphasizing the depth and detail of the dial.

The Turbine Skull is available in two variations:

  • A1092/S1: Featuring a 44mm stainless steel case with a striking blue dial and matching blue anodized aluminium turbine blades.
  • A1093/S1: Featuring a black PVD-coated stainless steel case with a black dial and turbine blades in the same hue.

Both models feature luminescent-coated hands and indices, which emit a soft white glow in low-light conditions, enhancing the watch’s allure in the dark.

Technological Mastery and Precision

Powered by the in-house Perrelet P-331-MH calibre, the Turbine Skull is as functional as it is visually captivating. The movement is COSC-certified, ensuring the utmost accuracy, with a power reserve of 42 hours. The watch operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), reflecting its precision-engineered design. In addition to COSC certification, the P-331-MH movement has also received the Chronofiable® certification, which rigorously tests the reliability of the watch under real-world conditions.

The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the beautifully finished movement, including the rhodium-plated bridges, snailed main plate, and the open-worked oscillating weight, all proudly bearing the Perrelet logo.

Limited Edition Craftsmanship

Both models of the Turbine Skull come with a black or blue alligator-pattern leather strap, lined with rubber for durability and comfort. Each watch also comes with an additional rubber strap and a fastening tool for easy self-replacement, offering versatility to its owner. Every piece is individually numbered, with the limited-edition inscription elegantly displayed on the sapphire crystal case back.
