Pequignet Unveils Its First Flying Tourbillon: The Royale Tourbillon

Pequignet has introduced the Royale Tourbillon, a significant addition to its lineup of haute horlogerie. This new model marks the first time the French brand has designed and produced a flying tourbillon within its Manufacture in Morteau, France. All components are sourced within an 80-kilometer radius, underscoring Pequignet’s commitment to local craftsmanship.

The Royale Tourbillon: Technical and Aesthetic Excellence

The Royale Tourbillon features a dial with a midnight blue “wave” effect, emphasizing the simplicity of its design. At 6 o’clock, the tourbillon is showcased, while the Pequignet logo sits at 12 o’clock. The dial is kept minimal, allowing the focus to remain on the technical artistry of the watch. Rose gold 5N tinted indices and faceted baton hands ensure readability in various lighting conditions.

Calibre Royal Tourbillon: Precision at Its Core

This model is powered by the Calibre Royal Tourbillon, Pequignet’s fourth in-house movement. With an 88-hour power reserve, the movement is designed for both performance and reliability. The flying tourbillon is located at 6 o’clock and completes one full rotation every 60 seconds. The tourbillon cage, constructed from titanium, is engineered with meticulous precision.

The flying tourbillon is a distinctive mechanism due to its lack of an upper bridge, giving it a floating appearance. The concentric balance wheel inside the cage and the use of solid gold compensating screws highlight the technical sophistication of this piece. The mechanism operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), ensuring stable timekeeping.

Limited Production for Discerning Collectors

Pequignet has limited production of the Royale Tourbillon to 24 pieces, each marking the year of release, 2024. The watch was unveiled during Watches and Wonders 2024, appealing to collectors and connoisseurs of French high watchmaking. The case is made from 18-carat rose gold, weighing 54.94 grams, and features a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The case back allows a view of the intricately decorated movement and is secured with six screws for durability.

For Collectors of Haute Horlogerie

The Royale Tourbillon is housed in a lacquered wood box, designed to match the midnight blue dial and wave motif. The watch is paired with a blue alligator strap and a rose gold ardillon buckle, echoing the overall aesthetic. Pequignet’s dedication to precision and artistry is evident in every aspect of this limited-edition timepiece.
