A. Lange & Söhne marks the successful first participation as the main partner of the prestigious Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance

On October 1st, 2023, a prestigious contest featuring classic and rare cars took place at The Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island, as part of the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week. This four-day celebration of automotive excellence, luxury, and sport spanned from September 28 to October 1, 2023. The collaboration between A. Lange & Söhne and this event symbolized the seamless union of two worlds renowned for their dedication to precision engineering and timeless beauty: the artistry of watchmaking and the excellence of the automotive industry.

As the primary partner, A. Lange & Söhne curated exclusive experiences for attendees during the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance. These experiences allowed guests to delve into and appreciate the meticulous craftsmanship and intricate mechanisms that define A. Lange & Söhne timepieces. In various categories, A. Lange & Söhne presented winners with certificates adorned with hand-engraved balance cocks. The award categories included the following: Pre-1965 (30/30), 1960s and 1970s (30/30), 1980s and 1990s (30/30), Timeless Luxury Award, and Best of Show. The Timeless Luxury Award was presented to the Duesenberg SJ (Supercharged) from The Nethercutt Collection, owned by Helen & Jack Nethercutt, in recognition of its unmatched elegance and performance. The title of ‘Best of Show’ at this year’s Concours d’Elegance was awarded to a Delage D8-120 ‘de Villars,’ owned by Fritz Burkard, in recognition of its outstanding qualities.

“We are immensely proud that the first step of our partnership has turned out to be such a milestone,” said Wilhelm Schmid, CEO at A. Lange & Söhne. “It has been an honour to be part of this extraordinary gathering and to be immersed in the community of Newport. We look forward to continuing this partnership, celebrating precision, craftsmanship, and the timeless beauty found in both the world of horology and the world of automobiles.”
