One Week Manufacture Edition in sleek anthracite

Armin Strom Unveils the One Week Manufacture Edition in Sleek Anthracite

Following the redesigned One Week First Edition debut in 2023, Armin Strom unveils the One Week Manufacture Edition, a new iteration of its first-ever manufacture movement. This limited edition of 100 pieces showcases an architectural openworked movement encased in a sleek and sporty steel case with an integrated bracelet, presented in sophisticated grey and anthracite hues. The One Week Manufacture Edition emphasizes the beauty of its manual calibre with its minimalist, monochromatic design.

A Milestone Revisited

Fifteen years ago, independent watchmaking brand Armin Strom made a transformative decision to establish its own manufacture in Biel, paving the way for true independence in watchmaking. In 2009, the first timepiece produced by this vertically integrated manufacture, the One Week, was unveiled. Entirely developed and manufactured in-house, the One Week stood out with its symmetrical design and unique movement architecture featuring two barrels for a seven-day power reserve. This innovation marked the beginning of numerous calibre advancements by Armin Strom, earning the admiration of discerning collectors.

A Modern Reimagination

The One Week Manufacture Edition reimagines this milestone calibre with a bolder, three-dimensional approach to design. The openworked movement, visible through the dial, is treated with anthracite PVD coating, highlighting its intricate construction. “Collectors who missed the opportunity to get a first edition of the redesigned One Week will now have another chance. The Manufacture Edition of the new One Week will be limited to 100 pieces,” says Armin Strom founder Serge Michel.

Mechanical Artistry and Ingenuity

The One Week’s openworked design prominently displays the movement’s kinetic elements on the dial side, a signature of Armin Strom timepieces. The new manual-winding ARM21 calibre features two mainspring barrels arranged symmetrically, providing consistent energy to the gear train for a seven-day power reserve. The movement’s reengineering includes an increase in the oscillating frequency from 2.5 Hz to 3.5 Hz (25,200 vph), enhancing chronometric performance.

Innovative Power Reserve Indicator

A distinctive feature of the new One Week is its conical power reserve indicator, inspired by pocket watches. This indicator utilizes a mirror-polished cone driven by a conical gear, visible from the dial side, adding to the watch’s architectural depth. The faceted hour and minute hands, filled with Super-LumiNova, are centrally positioned, surrounded by a chapter ring set with baton indices, maintaining optimal legibility.

Craftsmanship and Finishing

The One Week Manufacture Edition is a masterclass in haute horlogerie hand-finishing, with straight- and circular-grained surfaces, chamfered and polished bevels, Geneva-striped plates, and polished screws. “The craftsmanship truly shines when observed through a magnifying glass, highlighting the watch’s artisanal excellence,” remarks Claude Greisler, master watchmaker and co-founder of Armin Strom.

Ergonomic Design

The watch’s contemporary 41mm stainless steel case is only 10.6mm in height, paired with an integrated steel bracelet featuring H-shaped satin-brushed and polished links. The design emphasizes ergonomics, making it an ideal piece for everyday wear, filled with mechanical intrigue.
