Atelier Holgur Unveils New Edition Fumée Variant: Stealth Meets Luxury
Independent watch brand Atelier Holgur is adding a sophisticated new diver’s reference to its exclusive Edition Fumée collection. Following the vibrant Fire Coral Red and Ocean Emerald Green editions, the brand now presents the elegant and stealthy Silver Tide dial.
Since launching the brand, founders Matthew de Bakker and Asbjørn Simonen-Andersen have focused on perfecting their initial diver’s watch, the Frømand. Unlike many in the industry, Atelier Holgur aims to design watches that meet professional diving standards while incorporating luxurious elements typically associated with haute horology.
The New Frømand Edition Fumée Silver Tide
The Edition Fumée watches draw inspiration from co-founder Matthew de Bakker’s diving experiences. The Silver Tide is inspired by night dives where the moonlight reflects off the water’s surface, creating a silver glow that fades to black. This dial showcases a dark silver sunburst effect with a fumée gradient around the edges, blending stealthy luxury with contrast and uniformity within the titanium case.
Maintaining Technical Excellence
The Edition Fumée retains the technical proficiency of the original Frømand model. It boasts water resistance up to 300 meters, a unidirectional dive bezel, and exceptional readability. The new design offers a refined aesthetic with a smoother dial surface, featuring a sunburst pattern, while the small seconds sub-dial retains its delicate concentric circles. This gives the watch a more formal appearance, moving away from a purely sporty look.
The hands, indices, and count-up scale are coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring visibility even in deep waters. Additionally, the Edition Fumée continues to feature the highly acclaimed skeletonized movement from the initial release, the Schwarz-Etienne ASE 200 for Atelier Holgur. Enhanced with a micro-rotor and exquisite finishing touches, this calibre is a standout among conventional diver’s watch movements. The transparent case back offers a clear view of the beautifully decorated movement, catering to watch enthusiasts.
Quality Craftsmanship and Sustainable Design
The Grade 5 Titanium case, measuring 40mm in diameter, returns with polished and micro-blasted finishes. This exterior showcases Atelier Holgur’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and technical excellence.
In line with the 2022 Frømand model, the Edition Fumée features an integrated strap bar ensuring a secure fit on the wrist. Atelier Holgur’s innovative strap system allows for easy strap changes without tools. The Edition Fumée includes two straps, both crafted from recycled ocean plastic by tide ocean material®, enhancing sustainability. The first strap features a Hook & Loop fastening and pin system, while the second strap has a simple loop design with a hint of color that complements the dial.
