For over twenty years, Blancpain’s watchmakers have crafted an exclusive timepiece in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The inspiration for the 2024 edition draws from the Ladybird Colors line, characterized by its vibrant red color scheme, heart motifs, and dazzling diamonds. This special edition beautifully embodies the timeless traditions of Valentine’s Day.
The Ladybird Colors line, the latest addition to the women’s timepiece collection, boasts a diverse and rich color palette. In honor of Valentine’s Day, the Ladybird Colors edition radiates in red. The dial, crafted from an exclusive variety of mother of pearl, showcases red Roman numerals. The meticulous process involves five separate applications of color, providing extra visual depth. All Ladybird Colors dials feature a delicate gold ring at 6 o’clock, hand-set with graduated diamonds. For the Valentine’s edition, the lower section of the diamond-set ring takes on the shape of a heart. Continuing the Valentine’s theme, Cupid’s arrow forms the large seconds hand, adorned with a small red heart and a feather-shaped counterweight.
Powering the timepiece is Blancpain’s in-house 1153 automatic winding caliber, beating at 3 Hz. The movement’s two mainspring barrels guarantee a four-day power reserve. The white gold winding rotor is intricately open-worked with a heart motif, visible through the sapphire case back.
The 34.9 mm white gold case is adorned with hand-set diamonds on the bezel and lugs, totaling over 2 carats. This limited edition Valentine’s Day 2024 release is restricted to just 99 examples.
About the Ladybird collection: The term “Ladybird” traces its origins back nearly seven decades at Blancpain, starting with then-CEO Betty Fiechter’s introduction of the world’s smallest round feminine timepiece bearing that charming name. This initial timepiece marked the beginning of Blancpain’s prominence in the realm of women’s watches, with notable triumphs such as Marilyn Monroe’s diamond-encrusted Blancpain.
