Breguet Classique Tourbillon 3358

Breguet now offers two new versions of its Tourbillon in the Classique collection.

The Classique Tourbillon collection has been enriched with two new references, both bearing the number 3358. These exquisite timepieces captivate observers with the elegance of their dials and the intricate watchmaking mechanisms concealed within.

A Starry Night – 3358BB/VD/986D0

The initial model, crafted in white gold, transports us into a dreamscape of celestial nights. A cascade of diamonds appears to gracefully glide across its midnight blue mother-of-pearl dial, adorned with a pearlized finish. Adding depth and allure, the dial features a constellation of gold stars, some delicately embellished with diamonds, while others are meticulously sandblasted and polished. The off-center chapter ring at 12 o’clock upholds the brand’s heritage with Arabic numerals and rhodium-plated gold Breguet hands, and a serial number is discreetly positioned at 4 o’clock. The dial gracefully opens like a polished arena at 6 o’clock, revealing the resplendent tourbillon. A magnificent bar in the shape of a shooting star, bedecked with 45 snow-set diamonds, gracefully traverses the tourbillon, with a central blue spinel serving as the pivotal point for the tourbillon carriage. This mesmerizing mechanism is visible from both the front and back of the watch, as the sapphire case-back unveils a baseplate adorned with hand-engraved Breguet branding and the movement’s unique reference number. To enhance its brilliance, the bezel and lugs are also adorned with diamonds, and the crown is adorned with a rose-cut diamond.

A Breathtaking Vision – 3358BR/8D/986D0

Encased in rose gold, this model boasts a dial adorned with 281 diamonds. The diamonds between 3 and 9 o’clock form graceful curves, while those within the chapter ring are set using the intricate snow-setting technique. The chapter ring at 12 o’clock is fashioned from natural white mother-of-pearl. Arabic numerals and hands adhere to Breguet’s distinctive aesthetic principles established by its founder. Majestically positioned at the base of the dial, the tourbillon is integrated into an elegantly curved and polished oval-shaped aperture, accented by a rounded gold bar adorned with 14 diamonds. To accentuate the mesmerizing operation of the tourbillon, its components play with a harmonious interplay of grey and pink contrasts. Notably, the bezel and lugs are lavishly set with diamonds, as is the crown, which features a rose-cut diamond. The sapphire case-back of this rose gold masterpiece also allows the wearer to admire the meticulously hammered and hand-engraved decoration.

The Movement

Encased in a 35 mm case, water-resistant to a depth of 30 meters, both of these new Breguet timepieces house the 187 D movement. This hand-wound movement operates at a frequency of 2.5 Hz and boasts a substantial 50-hour power reserve. Renowned for its durability and precision, the calibre features a steel Breguet balance-spring, meticulously crafted with a Breguet terminal curve. These models come with glossy alligator leather straps in midnight blue for the white gold version and crimson red for the rose gold edition.

The Tourbillon

The tourbillon, officially conceived on June 26, 1801, by the ingenious mind of Abraham-Louis Breguet, was born from his deep understanding of the scientific and horological aspects. He observed that the Earth’s gravity posed a challenge to maintaining the regularity of watch movements, causing rate variations each time a watch changed its position. To overcome this gravitational challenge, the founder of the House of Breguet conceived the ingenious idea of housing the entire escapement within a mobile carriage that completed one full rotation per minute. This ingenious design allowed for the systematic reproduction and cancellation of errors. Furthermore, the perpetual change in the balance pivots’ point of contact within their jeweled bearings ensured better lubrication, marking the birth of the tourbillon.

The Classique Collection

The Classique collection, characterized by its blend of purity and refinement, faithfully embodies the brand’s rich aesthetic heritage. Beyond his expertise as a watchmaker and innovator, Abraham-Louis Breguet was also a pioneer in design. He introduced and popularized the neoclassical style in watchmaking, enhancing the aesthetics of dials and improving the legibility of watch indications. These two new Classique Tourbillon models pay homage to the brand’s enduring design principles and signature style.
