Breguet Continues its Artistic Collaboration with Frieze Art Fair in 2024

Breguet proudly announces its ongoing partnership with Frieze Art Fair for the 2024 edition, marking the third year of collaboration. This year brings a new artistic endeavor in conjunction with independent curator Jenn Ellis, set to debut during Frieze New York from May 1-5, 2024.

Jenn Ellis, a curator known for her global perspective and dedication to the fusion of art, space, and context, joins forces with Breguet for this exciting venture. With a decade of experience and a portfolio spanning projects across continents, Ellis brings a fresh vision to the partnership. Her previous projects have garnered acclaim in esteemed publications such as Art Newspaper, Artforum, and Frieze.

During a visit to the Breguet manufacture in the Vallée de Joux, Ellis was profoundly moved by the craftsmanship and heritage embedded in each Breguet timepiece. Reflecting on her experience, she remarked, “It was incredible to not just understand but feel the emotion, care, and technical skill that goes into making each Breguet piece.”

The collaboration between Breguet and Frieze for the 2024-25 partnership takes the form of a year-long exploration curated by Ellis. The inaugural exhibition, titled “An Atlas of Us,” features the work of Singaporean artist Dawn Ng. Ng’s art, which delves into the concepts of time, memory, and the ephemeral, resonates deeply with the themes of the partnership.

“An Atlas of Us” showcases Ng’s unique exploration of time through various mediums, including photography, light, and painting. Through her use of ice as a medium, Ng symbolizes the passage of time and its relationship with geological formations, drawing intriguing parallels with the art of watchmaking.

In Ng’s own words, “In my work, I explore time through the ultimate ephemeral material: ice. Collaborating with Breguet, a brand vested in heritage and time, prompts me to think deeply about the interconnectedness of time, land, and geological formations.”

Dawn Ng, born in 1982 and based in Singapore, is known for her multidisciplinary approach to art, emphasizing temporality and beauty in her creations. Her recent series, “Into Air,” exemplifies her nuanced understanding of time and landscape, drawing parallels with geological formations.

As Breguet continues to uphold its legacy as a leader in luxury watchmaking, its commitment to fostering artistic endeavors reaffirms its dedication to both innovation and heritage. Through its ongoing partnership with Frieze Art Fair and collaborations with visionary artists like Dawn Ng, Breguet continues to push the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship.
