Breguet Expands Type XX Collection with New Gold and Ceramic Chronograph 2067

Breguet has unveiled a new addition to its iconic Type XX line: the Chronograph 2067. This model combines rose gold with ceramic, continuing the evolution of the collection since the launch of the fourth-generation Type XX in 2023. The civilian version incorporates modern materials while paying tribute to Breguet’s historical connection to aviation.

Historical Inspiration Meets Modern Design

The Type XX Chronograph 2067 draws on Breguet’s original Type XX watches from the 1950s, which were closely associated with aviation. The inclusion of gold harks back to the rare gold pieces from 1955, such as Breguet No. 1780, part of a limited run of luxury civilian models.

This latest model features a 42mm rose gold case paired with a bidirectional rotating bezel that includes a blue ceramic ring—a first for the Type XX collection. The contrast between the gold and blue materials creates a striking look, while maintaining the collection’s aviation-inspired roots.

Functional and Precise Design

The deep sunburst blue dial includes luminescent Arabic numerals and hands for easy legibility, even in low-light conditions. The layout is practical and dynamic, featuring three snailed counters: a 15-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a running seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. A date window, subtly positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock, completes the design without cluttering the dial.

The Type XX Chronograph 2067 includes the flyback chronograph function that simplifies timing. Users can reset and restart the chronograph with a single push—perfect for pilots needing precise timekeeping. Pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock control the chronograph, with the latter also serving as the reset button.

Powered by Breguet’s Calibre 728

The Type XX Chronograph 2067 operates with Breguet’s in-house Calibre 728 movement, introduced in 2023. This self-winding movement was designed to ensure accuracy and durability. It includes a vertical clutch, which ensures precise starts, and offers a 60-hour power reserve. The movement’s high frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) enhances timekeeping precision.

The sapphire crystal caseback provides a view of the movement’s craftsmanship. Notably, the blackened gold oscillating weight is shaped like an aircraft wing—a subtle reference to the watch’s aviation history.

Strap Options and Presentation

Breguet offers two strap options with the Type XX Chronograph 2067: an alligator leather strap for a traditional look and a NATO fabric strap with white piping for a sportier feel. Both straps, equipped with 18K gold pin buckles, are easily interchangeable using the tool-free system. The leather box, designed to resemble an aircraft wing, further emphasizes the watch’s aviation connection.

CEO and Heritage Insights

Lionel a Marca, CEO of Breguet, explained the choice of gold and ceramic for this model: “While searching through our archives, we discovered three exceptional models dating from the first generation of Type XX gold watches. After launching a steel model, it was essential to offer a model for our customers who are used to wearing gold. Ceramic is a real newcomer to our collections, and I liked its attributes—it’s light, resistant, and scratchproof. This material is ideal for a sporty-chic watch.

Emmanuel Breguet, VP and Head of Patrimony, provided historical context: “At the beginning of 1955, Breguet had received a large order from the French Air Force for 1,100 units of its military Type 20. Creativity was at its peak, and three civilian timepieces appeared, each featuring a gold case and a graduated rotating bezel with blue enamelled numerals.
