Ace Jewelers and Christiaan van der Klaauw are thrilled to unveil the stAriadne, a limited-edition collaboration that brings together the renowned Dutch Jeweler and the prestigious Dutch watch brand. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s Ariadne model, the stAriadne showcases an elegant fog grey dial with black counter rings and distinctive star-shaped hour indexes, all encased in stainless steel.
Available for pre-order, the Ace x Christiaan van der Klaauw stAriadne Amsterdam is a unique offering, with only 50 pieces available in this exclusive run. Priced at EUR 9,450 (including VAT) or EUR 7,810 (excluding VAT), the watch can be customized for each client. Options include choosing between Dutch or English calendar discs and selecting a unique number from 1 to 50, hand-engraved by master-engraver Jochen Benzinger on the movement’s rotor. Production is set to commence in the second quarter of 2024, with an anticipated average output of 5 watches per month from the CvdK manufacture.
The collaboration marks a departure for Christiaan van der Klaauw, known for its celestial influences, as the stAriadne introduces star-shaped hour markers. While a novelty for the brand, star-shaped dials have historical precedence, dating back to iconic watches like the Rolex 6062 and 6098 in the 1950s. The Ace x Christiaan van der Klaauw stAriadne pays homage to this tradition while infusing a modern touch inspired by the Amsterdam cityscape.
Pim Koeslag, CEO of Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the unique personalization of the iconic Ariadne model. The stAriadne, based on the latest generation of the Ariadne, features a self-winding mechanism, a chronograph, a full calendar displaying date, day, and month, and a moon phase indicator. The fog grey dial with black accents and star-shaped hour markers sets it apart from the standard production versions.
CEO of Ace Jewelers, Alon Ben Joseph, shared his excitement about fulfilling a childhood dream by co-creating a Christiaan van der Klaauw wristwatch. The collaboration materialized after Alon’s long-standing connection with Christiaan van der Klaauw and the shared vision with Pim Koeslag. The result, the stAriadne, represents a beautiful and exclusive timepiece that reflects the essence of both brands.
Christiaan van der Klaauw, renowned for astronomical complications, has a rich history of crafting innovative timepieces, including the world’s smallest mechanical planetarium and the most accurate 3D moon phase. The brand, now led by co-owner and master watchmaker Pim Koeslag, continues its legacy as the only atelier globally dedicated to handcrafting exclusive astronomical timepieces.
Ace Jewelers, owned by the Ben Joseph family, has been a prominent figure in the luxury jewelry and watch industry since 1975.
