Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Nino Farina II

Cuervo y Sobrinos Honors First Formula One World Champion Nino Farina with New Timepiece

Cuervo y Sobrinos, the renowned watchmaker, pays homage to the inaugural Formula One World Champion, “Nino” Farina, who clinched the title in 1950.

Enzo Ferrari, in describing Emilio Giuseppe Farina, also known as Nino, lauded him as a man of courage and daring stunts that often secured his victories. The Historiador Nino Farina II, a sequel to the highly acclaimed first limited series, is a modern chronograph limited to 158 pieces, inspired by Farina’s historic win and adorned with the iconic Alfa Romeo colors.

Born in Turin on October 30, 1906, Nino Farina hailed from a family of coachbuilders, with his father founding “Carrozzeria Farina” and his uncle Battista contributing to the renowned “Pininfarina” brand. Farina dedicated himself to racing from the 1920s to the 1950s, culminating in his victory at the Monza racetrack on September 3, 1950, where he secured the 1st Formula 1 World Championship driving the Alfa Romeo 158, also known as the “Alfetta.”

Notably, Farina achieved a hat trick on that historic day, being the first Italian driver to claim the World Champion title, set the fastest lap, and secure the pole position. Despite facing accidents and injuries throughout his 22-season racing career, Farina continued to compete, showcasing his prowess in Italian cars such as Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, and Ferrari.

The limited edition Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Nino Farina II, with a diameter of 40 mm, is housed in a stainless steel case, featuring a double-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. The watch comes with a matte brown calf “racing style” strap with light blue stitching, inspired by vintage racing gloves. The case back bears a dedication to the world champion, along with his signature.

The timepiece is a nod to the legendary Alfa Romeo 158, with red minute and hour counter hands mirroring the car’s exterior color and a green central seconds hand representing the four-leaf clover, the historical symbol of Alfa Romeo. Powering the Historiador Nino Farina is the Swiss automatic movement, CyS 8129 caliber, based on the ETA 2894, featuring an engraved oscillating weight and a 42-hour power reserve.

As a fitting tribute to Nino Farina’s legacy, Cuervo y Sobrinos has tastefully blended history, elegance, and modernity in the creation of this limited edition timepiece.
