To mark the 2023 Geneva Watch Days, De Bethune introduces the DB28XP Kind of Blue, a remarkable addition to their iconic watch collection. This exquisite creation seamlessly blends the time-tested elegance of the DB28XP with the timeless allure of the DB28 Kind of Blue, offering watch enthusiasts a unique piece that harmonizes tradition and innovation.

A Natural Progression of Excellence

The DB28XP Kind of Blue represents the natural evolution of two iconic De Bethune models, the DB28XP and the DB28 Kind of Blue. It encapsulates the best of both worlds, combining the sleek design and refinement of the DB28XP with an entirely blue aesthetic inspired by the DB28 Kind of Blue and bearing the unmistakable signature of the Manufacture.

An Enchanting Dial

The dial is a symphony of interpretation, reliefs, and the interplay of light and shadows. Crafted from blued titanium, the watch showcases an architectural fusion of space, time, and light upon first glance. The deep and luminous blue tone is achieved through the natural oxidation of the material, ensuring each watch is a unique work of art. The dial, entirely constructed from Microlight, reimagines and modernizes the traditional guilloché technique. This technique, on its expansive flat surface, adds depth, architectural dynamism, and a more contemporary feel by playing with shadow and light.

Ultra-Thin, as per De Bethune’s Standard

De Bethune ventured into the realm of ultra-thin watches in 2020 with the introduction of the DB28XP, marking a decade of mechanical and aesthetic exploration. Denis Flageollet, in his quest for an ultra-thin timepiece, envisioned it as both a technical and aesthetic challenge, demanding precision and a delicate harmony between design and constraints. The DB28XP has now become the embodiment of beauty, symbolizing purity in its most absolute form.

Unveiling De Bethune’s Watchmaking Mastery

The manual-winding movement, DB2115v12, features the De Bethune balance wheel, visible through the dial’s opening at 6 o’clock. This balance wheel is the result of De Bethune’s relentless physical and mathematical approach to enhance its performance. It boasts the latest advancements, with a not overly large titanium diameter and external gray gold weights for remarkable inertia, reliability, and regulating precision. Equipped with the renowned De Bethune hairspring, this exceptionally thin spring maintains perfect balance and serves as a shock absorber in case of impact.

Additionally, De Bethune has improved the power reserve efficiency by +20%, extending it to a total of 6 days, visible through the sapphire glass case back. The assembly is protected by an exclusive triple shock-absorbing system, a symmetrical bridge, and two additional shock absorbers, effectively dampening severe impacts.

Comfort and Innovation

Like other models in the collection, the DB28XP Kind of Blue impresses with its lightweight case, crafted entirely from polished blue-tinged grade 5 titanium. It features a microlight caseband mounted on mobile cradles, which adapt to the wrist’s size and movements, thanks to De Bethune’s patented system. The caseband follows the contours of the wrist, and the Microlight finish extends to the outer edge, creating a polished and elegant look. The watch comes with an alligator strap and a titanium buckle, ensuring practicality and comfort for the wearer.
