Farer Cushion Case Collection

Classic Meets Contemporary: Farer’s New Cushion Case Collection

Farer’s new Cushion Case Collection, inspired by the Stanhope II release, represents a departure from traditional circular watch designs. The collection introduces an organic-shaped case that blends modern elegance with classic design elements. Through careful attention to detail, this series exemplifies a refined balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics.

Dial Variants and Textures

The collection offers two distinct dial designs. The original Stanhope II model is distinguished by its piqué textured floating dial. The new Durham, Mansfield, and Lethbridge models, however, introduce a more sophisticated color palette with intricate tonal and textural variations across a vertically grained sector dial. Each design is completed with a sweeping seconds sub-dial, adding a timeless touch.

Innovative Case Design

The 38.5mm case is constructed from three separate components: the case back, main case body, and a bevelled bezel with anti-reflective sapphire glass. This design results in a classic yet modern aesthetic, with unique angles when viewed on the wrist. The entire case is mirror-polished, except for the brushed bevel on the bezel. The case’s architecture features barrel sides that closely frame the dial, creating an illusion of integrated straps due to the scalloped inner case design.

“What’s most notable is the subtle, yet still vibrant, colorways that encapsulate the modern appeal of Farer,” according to Cool Material.

Hand-Wound Movement

The watches in this collection are powered by the hand-wound SELLITA SW216-1 Elaboré Grade movement, modified to exclude a date function. This Swiss-made calibre is known for its thin profile, reliability, and robustness. It operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and is adjusted in three positions. The movement is decorated with blue screws and a custom Farer arrow pattern micro-engraved across the bridge. It offers a 45-hour power reserve when fully wound.

Limited Edition Durham Pullman

The collection is complemented by a limited edition of the Durham Pullman, which features Eastern Arabic numerals in place of the standard Western Arabic numerals and hour batons. These polished silver numerals are set against a dark green dial with a metallic brushed finish that changes tone depending on the light. The hour markers are mounted on a raised ring with a radial brushed finish, creating the signature sector dial effect typical of the Cushion Case collection. The watch also features a sharp polished dauphine handset, a sunken silver seconds sub-dial with an engine-turned finish, and various other intricate details.

This Eastern Arabic Edition of the Durham Pullman is limited to just 100 units. Its sophisticated design makes it suitable for both everyday wear and formal events.
