Garmin has announced today a series of new software and feature updates tailored for select smartwatches, including the epix™ (Gen 2), fēnix® 7, Forerunner®, vívoactive® 5, and Venu® 3 Series smartwatches, among others. Additionally, Garmin introduces an expanded array of color options for its lightweight and soft UltraFit nylon straps, now including Flame Red and Blue Granite.
Among the notable features included in this free software release are:
- Multisport Auto Transition: Users can now seamlessly focus on their race while their watch effortlessly records splits between swim, bike, and run activities during multisport events.
- Running Track Database: With access to over 10,000 tracks (400 meters) worldwide, the track run activity profile offers precise performance measurements, even on previously unexplored tracks.
- Sleep Coach: Offering personalized sleep coaching insights, users can strike a balance between challenging activities and the body’s natural recovery process. Garmin smartwatches also track various sleep stages, naps, and other key metrics, including Pulse Ox2 and heart rate variability (HRV) status.
- Jump Rope Activity: Users can now choose between free mode or goal mode (target time or target reps) to track various metrics such as duration, total reps, calories burned, and more, during jump rope exercises.
In addition to these software enhancements, Garmin unveils new color options for its popular UltraFit nylon straps. Designed for rugged athletics and outdoor wear, these QuickFit™ compatible straps now come in Deep Orchid for the 20mm band, and Flame Red, Blue Granite, and Moss for both the 22mm and 26mm bands. The new straps are priced at $39.99.
The software updates have already begun rolling out to compatible devices. Users can update their smartwatches by enabling automatic updates from their device and syncing with Garmin Connect™ or by using Garmin Express™.
