La Chaux-de-Fonds, November 16th, 2023 (12PM CET) – Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux, in continuation of their official partnership, have collaboratively crafted a striking new timepiece that reimagines ‘the bridge,’ one of the oldest mechanical signatures in watchmaking. As a noteworthy addition to the renowned Bridges collection, the Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition puts functional components, often concealed, at the forefront. Drawing inspiration from Aston Martin’s next generation of sportscars, the design team took cues from the iconic DB12 Super Tourer, infusing the watch with the car’s sculpted contours and sharp lines.
In 2021, Girard-Perregaux was named the Official Watch Partner of the esteemed British brand Aston Martin, both boasting over 300 years of combined history in the world of luxury. This collaboration, rooted in a shared commitment to design excellence and uncompromising engineering, has resulted in exceptional timepieces, each proudly bearing the names of both marques. The Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition, the fifth co-branded timepiece, reflects the passion of both entities to push the boundaries of design and horological expertise, seamlessly merging beauty and engineering for breathtaking performance.
Marek Reichmann, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin Lagonda, notes, “From the outset of our partnership with Girard-Perregaux as our Official Watch Partner, it was evident that we shared a passion for precision and performance design. The watches bearing our names have been authentically co-created through a true spirit of collaboration.”
Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, adds, “This was not merely a case of putting Aston Martin’s name on one of our watches. They played an active role in the conception of this watch, looking at the materials employed and, interestingly the design of the movement.”
The Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition, the latest addition to Girard-Perregaux’s Bridges collection, breaks horological conventions with its inverted movement, showcasing the Calibre GP0840000-2164. Upholding the spirit of the Bridges collection, the functional components contribute to its visual allure, with Neo-shaped bridges supporting the gear train and balance, inviting the wearer to witness the intricate dance of various parts working together.
The watch features skeletonized baton-type indexes for hours and minutes, dispensing with a conventional dial. Luminescent material on the hands and indexes emits a green glow in low light, a nod to Aston Martin’s signature color. The design, inspired by the automotive world, emphasizes weight-saving principles.
Power is derived from a barrel positioned at 1:30, supported by a black openworked bridge, and the watch is automatic, harnessing energy from the wearer’s wrist motion with a micro-rotor. The Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition, limited to 250 pieces, showcases brushed greys, vibrant rubies, brooding blacks, and silver-colored wheels, housed in a lightweight titanium case with black DLC coating, measuring 45mm in diameter.
Reflecting the philosophy of the Aston Martin DB12, known as the world’s first super tourer, the Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition aims to cover great distances in comfort, offering a thrilling and memorable experience. The watch, available for sale in December 2023, with worldwide availability in authorized Girard-Perregaux retailers, promises exclusivity and rarity akin to an Aston Martin model.
