Girard-Perregaux Unveils Limited-Edition Laureato Chronograph Ti49

Girard-Perregaux proudly introduces the Laureato Chronograph Ti49, a striking reinterpretation of its iconic timepiece originally introduced in 1975. This latest iteration combines the signature intricately-shaped case design of the Laureato with the ultra-desirable Grade 5 titanium, marking the first appearance of this robust alloy in a classic Laureato reference.

Grade 5 titanium offers exceptional strength, lightness, corrosion resistance, and hypoallergenic properties, making it an ideal choice for watchmaking. This special alloy, composed predominantly of titanium with small traces of aluminum, vanadium, iron, and oxygen, has been expertly utilized to craft the Laureato Chronograph Ti49, resulting in a timepiece that seamlessly blends durability with elegance.

The story behind the Laureato Chronograph Ti49 is further enriched by the remarkable journeys of two pioneering individuals. Jean-François Bautte, orphaned at a young age, honed his skills in watchmaking and related trades, laying the foundation for Girard-Perregaux in Geneva in 1791. Around the same time, William Gregor, an English clergyman and mineral enthusiast, discovered titanium in Cornwall, England, a breakthrough that would revolutionize multiple industries, including watchmaking.

The Laureato Chronograph Ti49 pays homage to its heritage while embracing modern innovations. Housed in a 42mm case, the timepiece features the iconic octagonal bezel resting upon a circular plinth atop a tonneau-shaped case. The intricate profile of the case, enhanced by Grade 5 titanium, captures and reflects light, creating a dynamic interplay of brilliance and shadow.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the dial of the Laureato Chronograph Ti49 boasts a Clous de Paris pattern in grey, complemented by luminescent baton-style hands and indexes for enhanced readability. Three snailed counters and a date display add functionality to the timepiece, while the GP03300 Manufacture Calibre, adorned with exquisite finishes such as ‘Côtes de Genève’ and satin finish, powers its inner workings.

With its fusion of tradition and innovation, the Laureato Chronograph Ti49 represents a milestone in Girard-Perregaux’s illustrious history. Scheduled for release in March 2024, this exceptional timepiece will be available at Girard-Perregaux retailers worldwide, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to own a piece of horological excellence inspired by centuries of craftsmanship.
