Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date in Swimming Pool and Watermelon colors

Glashütte Original Introduces Limited Edition Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date in Bold Colors

Renowned German watchmaker Glashütte Original has unveiled two new limited edition versions of its Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date, drawing inspiration from the vibrant aesthetics of the 1970s. The new releases, dubbed “Swimming Pool” (reference 1-37-02-16-02-70) and “Watermelon” (reference 1-37-02-17-02-70), feature striking turquoise and coral red dials respectively, with each variant limited to 100 pieces.

The timepieces aim to capture the exuberant spirit of the 1970s, an era characterized by bold fashion choices and vivid color palettes. The “Swimming Pool” edition evokes the refreshing blue of a summer pool, while the “Watermelon” version offers a lively coral red hue. Both models feature a subtle velvety finish on the dial, designed to complement various styles and occasions.

These limited editions are now available at Glashütte Original boutiques and select authorized dealers worldwide. The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date maintains its signature vintage-inspired aesthetic, featuring a 40 x 40 mm stainless steel case with a combination of polished and satin-brushed finishes.

Functionally, the chronograph offers a range of features including short-time measurement with stop-second, a flyback function, a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour display, a power reserve indicator, and the brand’s distinctive Panorama Date. The timepiece is powered by Glashütte Original’s in-house calibre 37-02, an automatic movement with up to 70 hours of power reserve.

The movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back, showcases the brand’s commitment to traditional German watchmaking. It features a column wheel mechanism for precise chronograph operation and is hand-crafted and regulated to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Water-resistant up to 10 bar, the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date balances technical prowess with aesthetic appeal. The vibrant dial colors are achieved through an intricate in-house production process, resulting in a unique velvety texture that adds depth to the bold hues.

Industry analysts note that these limited editions may appeal to both watch collectors and enthusiasts drawn to the resurgence of 1970s-inspired design in fashion and accessories. The release also aligns with a broader trend in the luxury watch market towards more colorful and expressive timepieces.

As Glashütte Original continues to blend heritage with innovation, these new editions of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date represent a contemporary interpretation of a defining era in design history. The combination of technical sophistication and bold aesthetics positions these timepieces as notable additions to the brand’s portfolio and the wider luxury watch landscape.

Both the “Swimming Pool” (reference 1-37-02-16-02-70) and “Watermelon” (reference 1-37-02-17-02-70) come with a stainless steel bracelet as well as a rubber strap, and are priced at EUR 17.100 incl. VAT.
