H. Moser & Cie Steamliner Small Seconds 39mm

Introducing the Streamliner Small Seconds Blue Enamel by H. Moser & Cie.—a masterful fusion of exclusivity, performance, and craftsmanship, transcending the realm of mere timekeeping to become a true objet d’art for connoisseurs of discreetly refined, high-performance watchmaking.

Nestled within the steel case, featuring new lines and proportions tailored to its movement, resides the 18th Manufacture calibre, a testament to H. Moser & Cie.’s technical and aesthetic prowess. This horological creation is poised to emerge as a must-have among independent watch enthusiasts.

Crafted from steel and measuring a sleek 39 mm in diameter, the cushion-shaped case draws inspiration from the streamlined curves of 20th-century high-speed trains. Still water-resistant up to 12 ATM, its proportions have been reimagined for a more elongated profile, courtesy of the compact dimensions of the innovative calibre HMC 500. The integrated steel bracelet mirrors the case’s organic forms, exhibiting highly fluid lines and subtle sophistication through unique, articulated links.

In harmonious contrast to the steel elements, the Grand Feu enamel dial, aptly named “Aqua Blue,” reinterprets H. Moser & Cie.’s signature fumé finish. Meticulously crafted, the dial undergoes a twelve-step firing process to achieve the ombré effect, with steel applique indices framing its edge, devoid of any logo. The three-dimensional hands, featuring Globolight® inserts, display hours and minutes, while the offset small seconds at 6 o’clock introduces a captivating circular pattern on a lacquered sub-dial.

Powering this exceptional timepiece is the automatic calibre HMC 500, a true embodiment of Moser ingenuity. CEO Edouard Meylan explains the journey of creating this slim yet high-performance movement: “Our starting objective was to have a movement that was slim yet high performance. We then spent a great deal of time working to optimise the dimensions, which is why we decided to integrate a micro-rotor for the first time in our history. Made from solid platinum, this micro-rotor is mounted on a ball bearing, equipped with a bi-directional pawl winding system, and offers sufficient barrel torque to provide a power reserve of 74 hours. We have had to develop new smaller, slimmer components and mechanisms which could then be integrated into the available volume. The escapement was also miniaturised, whilst ensuring its performance remained unchanged, a technical feat made possible thanks to the expertise of our sister company, Precision Engineering AG. Because of the volume, the torque and the winding system, this was no easy task, but the result is a movement which will serve as a base for our small cases, and will enable us to introduce new complications, by combining it with modules developed in-house or in collaboration with our partner Agenhor“.

The calibre HMC 500 features open bridges with a contemporary finish, adorned with traditional Moser stripes and an anthracite grey coating. Proudly showcased on the micro-rotor is the company hallmark, a finishing touch to a timepiece that stands at the pinnacle of independent watchmaking.
