Hublot Big Bang Unico Green Saxem

Hublot, the Swiss watch manufacturer based in Nyon since its founding in 1980, continues to push the boundaries of innovation with its latest creation, the Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM. Drawing parallels to cousins in a family, the connection between sapphire and SAXEM is undeniable, both originating from the distinguished Hublot lineage.

The Nyon Manufacture, credited with ushering these materials into the 21st century, has established them as hallmark materials, each with its own unique profile. Sapphire, composed of aluminum oxide with added metallic oxides for color, exhibits a trigonal structure, while SAXEM, colored with rare earth elements, adopts a cubic form. Despite delving into chemical details, Hublot’s focus on research and development has been a constant since the inauguration of the Nyon Manufacture in 2009, exemplified by the recent unveiling of the Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM.

Creating an unprecedented shade of SAXEM has been a meticulous process ongoing since 2019, resulting in two additional shades, yellow and emerald. This material, while as resistant as sapphire, boasts a brighter shine, with a structure that is more uniform and seamless. The Green SAXEM featured in the new Big Bang UNICO showcases these innovations, housed in a solid and robust 42mm case. The material, though not directly receiving light, creates the illusion of emitting it, diffusing into the smallest contours of the case and bezel adorned with six iconic titanium H-shaped screws.

The movement of the Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM showcases the UNICO 2 calibre, a new-generation flyback chronograph, the HUB1280. Notably, this marks a departure from the micro-rotor HUB6035 used in the previous Big Bang SAXEM. The movement, self-winding and adorned with a high-performance tungsten oscillating weight visible through the case back, combines advanced technology with a robust design. The HUB1280 calibre features the iconic column wheel at 6 o’clock, UNICO’s technical and aesthetic signature, with a distinctive date disc visible around the movement.

The Green SAXEM’s exclusivity is further emphasized by its limited production, with only 100 watches being crafted. Hublot, known for its disruptive approach, initially blended gold with a rubber strap for its first timepiece, introducing the Art of Fusion. The iconic Big Bang model, introduced in 2005, showcased unparalleled expertise in complications, manufacture movements, and cutting-edge materials like carbon, titanium, ceramic, and sapphire.

Hublot’s commitment to being first, unique, and different is evident in subsequent collections such as Classic Fusion, Spirit of Big Bang, Square Bang, and Manufacture Pieces. These collections draw on high levels of craftsmanship, utilizing materials like Magic Gold, brightly-colored ceramics, and sapphires, paired with unique manufacture movements.

The brand’s influence extends beyond watchmaking, with powerful partnerships in football and engagement in environmental projects reflecting its concern for contemporary issues. With over 130 boutiques worldwide sharing Hublot’s values, along with an e-commerce site, the brand’s fervor for innovation and craftsmanship continues to captivate enthusiasts globally.
