Isotope Unveils the Chronograph Compax Moonshot Stealth and Terra Maris

Isotope introduces its inaugural chronograph series, the Chronograph Compax Moonshot, which comes in two distinct versions: the Moonshot Stealth and the Moonshot Terra Maris. Both models highlight Isotope’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and bold design, making a notable impact in the world of horology.

A Revolutionary Design in Two Editions

The Isotope Chronograph Compax Moonshot series features a world-first sub-dial layout designed to enhance readability. This streamlined tricompax design provides clarity for timekeeping and chronograph functions. The Moonshot Stealth and Moonshot Terra Maris are both crafted from Grade 5 Titanium using advanced CNC technology and finished by hand. These techniques ensure a retro-futuristic design inspired by space chronographs from the 1970s, yet they maintain a modern spirit.

Inspired by the graphic novel The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Jean Giraud (Moebius), the Moonshot embodies the novel’s essence of exploration and innovation. However, it’s important to note that the authors and their estates do not endorse the Moonshot.

“I have always been captivated by novels that depict dystopian worlds far removed from our reality,” shares José Mendes Miranda, founder of Isotope. “Our new chronograph boasts a shape and aesthetic unlike anything currently available on the market. We aimed to depart from traditional chronograph typologies, particularly the numerous vintage-inspired re-editions and interpretations that saturate the market, to create something truly unique.”

The Moonshot Stealth: A Covert Masterpiece

The Moonshot Stealth stands out with its dark and sophisticated design. Grey tones are complemented by white hands and sub-dial indicators. Additionally, the double-domed sapphire crystal enhances the dial’s clarity, while the DLC-coated titanium case provides durability and a refined matte finish. As a result, the Moonshot Stealth demonstrates Isotope’s commitment to futuristic design and innovation.

The Moonshot Terra Maris: Earth Meets Sea

The Moonshot Terra Maris, developed in collaboration with Miguel Seabra, uses a unique color palette inspired by land and sea. Rich browns and blues dominate its aesthetic. Seabra explains, “Brown and blue symbolise the land and the sea, capturing the essence of Cascais, the beautiful seaside resort at Europe’s westernmost point where the continent meets the ocean.” These tones create a subdued gradient, perfectly matching the matte Grade 5 Titanium case.

“I am proud to collaborate with a microbrand as innovative as Isotope Watches,” adds Miguel Seabra. “Microbrands have excelled in making mechanical watchmaking more accessible and offering alternatives for those seeking something unconventional—like the Moonshot, with its rotating discs replacing traditional hands on the sub-dials and its uniquely shaped case.”

Technical Innovation and Precision Engineering

Both the Moonshot Stealth and Terra Maris are powered by the Swiss Landeron 73 movement. This robust automatic Compax chronograph provides a 42-hour power reserve. With a case measuring 41mm in diameter and a 49.5mm lug-to-lug length, these watches offer a bold presence on the wrist without sacrificing comfort. Furthermore, the Super-LumiNova Grade X1 ensures clear legibility, even in low-light conditions.

Each timepiece includes a Grade 5 Titanium bracelet and a bespoke cut-to-size FKM rubber strap, giving wearers flexibility in style. The 100-meter water resistance enhances their functionality, making them suitable for various environments.

Initial Production and Future Batches

The initial production of the Moonshot Stealth and Terra Maris began in August. The first 25 pieces of each model are available for shipment in late October. Subsequent batches will follow in mid-December and early March. Each watch is individually numbered, and while not limited in quantity, future production depends on demand and available time, making each piece special.
