IWC Schaffhausen Teams Up with Hans Zimmer and Brian Cox for Unique Musical Collaboration

In a groundbreaking project, IWC Schaffhausen has announced a collaboration with Academy Award®-winning film score composer Hans Zimmer and renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox. The unlikely duo has joined forces to create a musical piece inspired by IWC’s new Portugieser collection and the revolutionary Portugieser Eternal Calendar.

At Watches and Wonders 2024 in Geneva, IWC Schaffhausen unveiled its latest Portugieser collection, featuring the innovative Portugieser Eternal Calendar. To complement this exceptional timepiece, IWC enlisted the expertise of Professor Brian Cox, a leading figure in the world of physics and science communication.

“In collaborating with Brian Cox, we have the privilege of bridging the worlds of watchmaking and science,” said Franziska Gsell, CMO of IWC Schaffhausen. “Brian’s ability to simplify complex scientific concepts and inspire audiences aligns perfectly with our mission to showcase the extraordinary achievement of the Portugieser Eternal Calendar.”

Professor Brian Cox, known for his work on groundbreaking scientific programs for the BBC, expressed his excitement about the collaboration. “As a physicist with a deep interest in space and time, IWC’s watchmaking is a source of inspiration,” said Cox. “This project is an opportunity to bring together art, music, and science to create something unique and wonderful.”

The collaboration also includes Hans Zimmer, renowned for his award-winning film scores and innovative approach to music composition. Zimmer was tasked with creating music inspired by the dial colors of the new Portugieser collection. Collaborating with Brian Cox, Zimmer drew inspiration from scientific concepts to produce a unique musical masterpiece.

“As an artist, I always seek inspiration to take me to unexpected places,” said Hans Zimmer. “Talking to Brian Cox has deeply inspired me, and this project reinforces my intention to create a unique community of artists, scientists, and thought leaders.”

This collaboration marks the continuation of a partnership between IWC Schaffhausen and Hans Zimmer, following their successful collaboration in 2022 and 2023. With this new venture, they aim to create an immersive experience that transcends traditional boundaries and celebrates the intersection of art, science, and innovation.
