IWC Schaffhausen and Lewis Hamilton Celebrate a Decade of Partnership Ahead of the British Grand Prix™
In anticipation of the British Grand Prix™ in Silverstone, IWC Schaffhausen and Lewis Hamilton commemorated their ten-year partnership with a special “Best of British” boat ride on the Thames. The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer organized this event to honor Hamilton, one of the most successful Formula One™ drivers and a global style icon. The journey showcased London’s iconic landmarks and concluded with an exclusive cocktail reception at a rooftop bar overlooking the Battersea Power Station.
Celebrating a Decade Together
The partnership between IWC Schaffhausen and Lewis Hamilton began in 2013 when IWC became the Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ team. Since then, Hamilton has not only achieved significant success in F1 but also emerged as a prominent fashion and style figure. To celebrate their collaboration, IWC invited Hamilton on a boat ride from Butler’s Wharf Pier to Battersea Power Station, passing by landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Shard, Tate Modern Gallery, Big Ben, and the London Eye.
Memorable Moments and a Stylish Companion
During the boat ride, Hamilton shared some of his favorite memories from his tenure as an IWC brand ambassador with British TV presenter Roman Kemp. Highlights included racing a fighter jet, a drone-filled spectacle in Las Vegas, and entertaining golf and basketball challenges in Miami. Throughout the event, Hamilton sported the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (Ref. IW388306) in Ceratanium® with a black dial.
Exclusive Rooftop Cocktail Reception
Upon arrival at Battersea Power Station, Hamilton joined guests for an intimate cocktail reception hosted by TV presenter Lucy Hedges and British-Italian racing driver Vittoria “Vicky” Piria. Hamilton discussed his 30-year racing career, from his early karting days to winning seven world championships. He also looked ahead to the upcoming British Grand Prix™ at Silverstone. Notable attendees included British actor Damson Idris, who stars in the upcoming Apple Original Films movie about a fictional F1 team, supported by IWC Schaffhausen.
Pop-Up Boutique at Battersea Power Station
IWC Schaffhausen installed a pop-up boutique in Malaysia Square, near its permanent boutique at Battersea Power Station.
