IWC Schaffhausen & Eileen Gu meet on the slopes

For an inspiring ski class for children.

On the 9th of December 2023, IWC Schaffhausen orchestrated a day filled with skiing activities for children in collaboration with their brand ambassador and two-time Olympic freestyle champion, Eileen Gu, in Zhangjiakou. Following Eileen’s participation and victory in the World Cup 2023 Halfpipe final earlier in the day, she dedicated the afternoon to imparting her skiing expertise to the young participants. This event marks the second ski class hosted by IWC and Eileen this year, exemplifying their joint dedication to empowering children through sports.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of the renowned Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou, China, the day commenced with the children and their parents watching Eileen’s triumphant performance in the World Cup 2023 Halfpipe final, where she clinched the gold. In the subsequent ski class, Eileen personally guided the children, focusing on enhancing their skiing form and skills.

I cherish the days I spend with the future generation of skiers, helping them improve their form and confidence. It is both inspiring and fun. On days like this, I look at my watch, and I am reminded how quickly time passes. I remember being a little kid on the slopes, learning my first tricks. So, thank you to my IWC family for helping me make every second of the day count,” says Eileen Gu.

During the skiing activities, Eileen adorned the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” (Ref. IW389105), powered by the IWC-manufactured 69380 caliber. The watch features a 44.5-millimeter case made from durable and scratch-resistant white ceramic, complemented by a white rubber strap. Its sleek design incorporates a pitch-black dial, black hands with white Super-LumiNova®, and stainless-steel elements in the crown, pushers, and case back ring.

Franziska Gsell, Chief Marketing Officer of IWC Schaffhausen, highlighted the company’s belief in the importance of sports for children’s integration, confidence-building, and well-being. She emphasized the joy and fun of sports, praising Eileen Gu’s dedication to her craft as reflective of IWC’s commitment to precision and excellence.

This event marks the second collaborative ski class for children between the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer and Eileen Gu in 2023, reinforcing their shared values and passion for sports. The classes extend beyond skill improvement, aiming to celebrate sports, instill confidence, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. The earlier event took place in Aspen, Colorado, where Eileen personally trained with the children.
