Swiss watchmaking Maison Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated a significant milestone with the Emirati premiere of ‘The Precision Pioneer’ exhibition. Held at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC, this captivating showcase invites the public to explore how the pursuit of precision has advanced the art of fine watchmaking over nearly 200 years.
A Dazzling Debut Event
The exhibition kicked off with an exclusive private opening celebration, featuring performances by Jordanian-Palestinian R&B artist Zeyne and Syrian actor Moatasem Al Nahar. Emirati film producer Abdulla Alkaabi served as the Master of Ceremony, handing over to renowned DJ Kaboo for the after-party.
Honouring Precision
Adding to the festivities, Chinese light-painting artist Roy Wang debuted four exclusive light-painting artworks created for La Grande Maison and performed a live light-painting show featuring one of his signature motifs—the dragon. Two Michelin-starred Indian chef Himanshu Saini also graced the event, offering guests a culinary journey blending ingredients from the Vallée de Joux with flavors from the subcontinent at the Precision Atelier. Both collaborations were commissioned by Jaeger-LeCoultre under its Made of Makers program, which fosters artistic partnerships that expand the dialogue between watchmaking and other art forms.
A New Limited-Edition Timepiece Revealed
The event was further highlighted by the unveiling of a new interpretation of the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948, featuring a green enamel dial. This piece combines mechanical excellence with rare handcrafts like enamelling, guillochage, and lacquering. The Universal Tourbillon completes a circuit around the dial in 24 hours, echoing Earth’s rotation and orbit around the Sun.
A Journey Through Time and Precision
‘The Precision Pioneer’ exhibition, part of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mission to expand the cultural conversation around fine watchmaking, offers visitors a deep dive into the art and science of precision. Divided into four chapters—The Precision of Production, The Precision of Chronometry, The Precision of Regulating Organs, and The Precision of Complications—the exhibition showcases Jaeger-LeCoultre’s rich heritage, craftsmanship, and pioneering spirit.
A Celebration of Craftsmanship and a Hands-on Experience
A dedicated viewing room within the exhibition highlights the 180 skills mastered by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s fully integrated Manufacture, emphasizing aspects of watchmaking relevant to precision. The ‘In the Making’ series of short films offers a behind-the-scenes look at design, production, finishing, assembly, and ornamentation. Additionally, visitors can watch live demonstrations of perlage and movement assembly. The exhibition also offers hands-on educational workshops at the Atelier d’Antoine for a deeper understanding of watchmaking.
