Introducing The Hour Glass Ginza Salon: A New Era of Luxury

The Hour Glass, a leading high-end watch retailer with 29 boutiques across 10 cities in the Asia-Pacific region, is thrilled to announce the grand reopening of its Ginza boutique. Originally established in 2002, this location has undergone a significant transformation and will now be known as The Hour Glass Ginza Salon. This revamp promises an elevated experience that blends luxury watchmaking with the rich cultural heritage of Japan.

A Fresh Take on Luxury

The newly rebranded Ginza Salon marks a pivotal moment for The Hour Glass. The refreshed boutique retains its impressive selection of prestigious brands, including both renowned names and independent watchmakers such as Rexhep Rexhepi, J.C. Biver, and Urwerk. The former boutique will now focus exclusively on Patek Philippe, enhancing its position within the high-end market.

An Immersive Japanese Experience

Traditional Meets Contemporary

The Hour Glass Ginza Salon is located on the eighth floor of the HULIC & New Ginza Namiki6 building in Tokyo’s upscale Chūō district. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a serene entrance hall, designed to evoke tranquility. The space features a dimly lit ambiance with andesite walls, reminiscent of the stone used in Edo Castle during the 1600s. This material is complemented by a unique ‘Naguri’ carving technique that creates an ever-changing interplay of light and shadow as water droplets from a tsukubai (water basin) ripple across the wall.

Japanese Aesthetic and Craftsmanship

Stepping beyond the entrance hall, visitors enter a bright and spacious salon adorned with white birch cherry wood and white plaster finishings. The main salon floor integrates traditional Japanese elements with modern luxury, creating a harmonious atmosphere for showcasing high-end mechanical watches.

The salon also boasts two private rooms, each featuring distinctive Japanese design elements. One private room includes a sloped ceiling and a large table crafted from a single piece of Japanese horse chestnut tree wood. This wood, known for its unique chijimi moku grain pattern, adds a touch of exclusivity and artistry. The second private room, located on a raised platform, features a similar table and offers an elevated view of the salon.

Sip and Relax in Style

A Sophisticated Lounge Experience

The Hour Glass Ginza Salon offers a luxurious lounge area designed for relaxation. This space features plush upholstery and a white rug, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. An L-shaped couch is adorned with a custom Suibokuga ink painting of a dragon, adding a touch of Japanese folklore to the ambiance.

For those who enjoy a refined beverage, the salon includes a fully-stocked bar with an extensive selection of world-class liquors. This includes celebrated Japanese whisky, champagne, wine, and cognac. The bar counter, crafted from a single piece of fir wood from Shikoku, spans over three meters and enhances the salon’s sophisticated vibe.

The Ultimate Audiovisual Experience

Enhancing the ambiance further, the salon features a state-of-the-art audio system provided by German company MBL. The system includes “full-radiation type” speakers and “breathing ball speakers” to deliver a 360° field of sound, ensuring a captivating auditory experience as visitors peruse the exclusive watch selection.

The Hour Glass Ginza Salon epitomizes Japanese elegance and luxury, creating an unparalleled environment for both local enthusiasts and international visitors. With its blend of high-end watches and distinctive Japanese design, the salon offers a unique experience that is both culturally resonant and luxuriously indulgent.
