Konstantin Chaykin’s Stargazer watch, a highly complex timepiece, has been recognized in the Russian Book of Records.
The Stargazer is the most complicated member to Chaykin’s renowned Wristmons family, known for its distinctive anthropomorphic dials. This model emphasizes astronomical complications, featuring 17 functions, 11 of which are astronomical indicators. A key innovation in this watch is its double-sided case construction, a first in the Wristmons line, which allows for a compact wristwatch caliber without compromising the readability of its numerous indicators. The watch can be worn with either side facing up, thanks to its movable lugs.
Both sides of the Stargazer’s dial maintain the collection’s signature anthropomorphic design. The primary “face” includes time indication resembling eyes, with “eyebrows” displaying the duration of day and night. The “nose” shows the equation of time, while a “third eye” depicts a detailed map of the night sky. On the reverse side, the traditional moonphase indicator is joined by a newly invented four-stage discrete moonphase indicator and a solar activity indicator, with a large tourbillon carriage resembling an astonished open mouth.
Several of the Stargazer’s complications are unique in the history of watchmaking. The four-stage discrete moonphase indicator was developed specifically for this watch. Solar azimuth indicators, with arrows, assist the wearer in predicting the sun’s rise and set locations on the horizon. The Stargazer is also the first wristwatch to feature a graphical solar activity indicator, which tracks one of the rarest and slowest astronomical cycles (an 11-year solar activity cycle). These inventions are protected by patents, and the Stargazer has become the most complex watch in Chaykin’s career. It has been officially recognized as the wristwatch with the most complications produced domestically in Russia.
The Stargazer is powered by the manual-winding K.22-1 caliber, comprising 664 parts with meticulous finishing. The case is crafted from genuine stainless bulat steel, a high-tech alloy used exclusively by the Konstantin Chaykin manufactory for select designs.
