Unique L.Leroy Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon for Cellini

L.Leroy Unveils Unique “Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” at Cellini Boutique in New York

Inspired by the historical Tact Watch made by Leroy in 1810, the prestigious Maison has created the unique “L.Leroy Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” timepiece. This exclusive grand complication piece is available solely at the renowned Cellini Boutique in New York.

Historical Legacy and Modern Innovation

Founded in Paris in 1785 by Charles Leroy, L.Leroy has crafted some of the most significant chapters in the history of French watchmaking. The brand has been favored by illustrious figures such as Marie Antoinette, Proust, Matisse, Napoleon, Queen Victoria, Roosevelt, Chopin, Nobel, and Bugatti.

The new “Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” draws inspiration from a rare 1810 pendant tact watch made for Prince Emil Maximilian Leopold August of Hesse, now part of the Patek Philippe Museum collection. The original watch allowed time reading in the dark by feeling the hand pointing towards diamonds on the case.

21st-Century Reinterpretation

L.Leroy’s latest creation melds its rich heritage with contemporary demands, resulting in a sophisticated wristwatch that appeals to both eyes and ears. This striking piece enriches the collection at Cellini, one of the world’s leading stores for exclusive high-end watch brands.

Exceptional Design and Mechanics

Case Construction:

  • Material: The 43 mm case combines grade 5 titanium (case body, lugs, case back, repeater slide, and crown) with PD210 18K palladium white gold (bezel and case back cover).
  • Engraving: Hand-engraved with a floral motif, requiring 120 hours by master engravers, particularly challenging on titanium.
  • Special Features: Transparent case back with an 18K white gold cover engraved with motifs from the historical “Leroy 01” pocket watch, known for its complexity and decorations.

Dial and Calibre:

  • Dial: Rotating with a flinqué soleil decoration and translucent aquamarine varnish. Features a rhodium-plated, arrow-shaped, hand-engraved hour hand pointing towards diamond markers (24 diamonds totaling 1.35 carats).
  • Minute Repeater: Activated by a slide between 8:30 and 9:30, this mechanism chimes the hours, quarters, and minutes via two gongs struck by hammers visible on the case back.
  • Movement: Hand-wound in-house calibre with 321 components, 3Hz frequency, 90-hour power reserve, and a flying tourbillon rotating every minute. Visible through the case back by opening the white gold cover using a push-button at 4 o’clock.

Strap:

  • Material: Integrated aquamarine strap in soft calfskin.
  • Clasp: 18K white gold round folding clasp with the interlaced double “L” logo, hand-engraved to match the case.
