Longines Unveils Exclusive CONQUEST HERITAGE CENTRAL POWER RESERVE to Mark 70th Anniversary of Iconic Collection
In a momentous celebration, Longines, the esteemed watchmaker, has introduced the groundbreaking CONQUEST HERITAGE CENTRAL POWER RESERVE to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its iconic CONQUEST collection. Inspired by a legendary model from the late 1950s, this new timepiece sets itself apart in the world of watchmaking with a revolutionary power reserve displayed on rotating discs at the center of the dial. The watch, available in champagne, anthracite, or black, stands as a testament to Longines’ unwavering commitment to technical excellence and timeless elegance.
The Conquest collection, characterized by its daring and creative spirit, was the first Longines watch line to receive official protection for its name in 1954 from the Federal Intellectual Property Office in Berne, Switzerland. Always at the forefront of innovation, the Conquest line, known for its self-winding and water-resistant features, has been synonymous with the world of sports and achievement. In 1959, a distinctive model with a power reserve indicator, featuring two rotating discs in the center of the dial, further solidified the collection’s status as a symbol of conquest.
To mark seven decades of the Conquest collection (1954-2024), Longines introduces the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve, paying homage to the classic model. The power reserve is ingeniously displayed through two rotating discs at the center of the dial. Longines’ exclusive mechanism, a testament to the brand’s innovation, places the power reserve indicator on the central uncoiling disc. Shaped like a widened baton at the top, it indicates the depletion level on the external coiling disc, graduating from ’64’ to ‘0’, revealing the remaining running time of the watch. Rewinding can be achieved by turning the crown or simply by the motion of the wrist, causing the coiling disc to rotate. This dynamic feature continuously transforms the dial’s aesthetics, creating a poetic representation of the passage of time. The innovative mechanism pays tribute to Longines’ historical watches with rotating discs, including the hour-angle models developed for the aeronautical industry in the late 1920s.
The three-part dial of the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve, available in champagne, anthracite, or black, features twelve applied facetted hour markers in yellow gold, rose gold, or silver colors. A circular thread, in harmony with the Conquest collection’s characteristic circles motif, carries the hour markers and separates the minute track on the fixed dial. Adding to its unique design, the date is prominently displayed at 12 o’clock in a trapezoid-shaped applique. The skyscraper-style hour and minute hands, adopting the colors of the hour markers, are coated with Super-LumiNova® for enhanced visibility.
Demonstrating Longines’ watchmaking expertise and timeless elegance, the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve is powered by the exclusive Longines L896.5 calibre, visible through the transparent screw-down case back. Equipped with a silicon balance-spring and innovative components, this self-winding mechanical movement offers a magnetic resistance up to ten times greater than the ISO 764 benchmark standard.
The redesigned 38 mm steel case, featuring alternating satin-finished and polished surfaces, is complemented by a box sapphire crystal with multi-layer anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The lugs have been redesigned for optimal ergonomics and comfort.
The Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve is available with black or grey leather straps, fitted with a new steel pin buckle, aligning with the latest models in the Conquest Heritage line. This release reaffirms Longines’ commitment to combining heritage with cutting-edge technology, offering a refined and sophisticated timepiece for discerning watch enthusiasts. Longines enthusiasts and collectors can now experience the evolution of the iconic CONQUEST collection with this innovative and timeless addition.
