Louis Moinet Impulsion Onyx

The IMPULSION makes a stunning return in a new limited edition, featuring the captivating addition of onyx.

Louis Moinet, renowned for the fusion of technology and artistry, presents another masterpiece with this timepiece, delivering a phenomenal visual spectacle.

In this latest iteration, the onyx takes center stage, positioned behind the tourbillon cage and on the wing-shaped bridges on either side, seamlessly harmonizing with the black hue of the mainplate. The mysterious and enchanting stone creates a mesmerizing contrast with the three-dimensional architecture of the mechanism.

Abraham-Louis Breguet and Louis Moinet, influential figures in watchmaking and close friends, left a lasting legacy with their inventions – the tourbillon and the chronograph, respectively. Today, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet continues this tradition, integrating these high complications into a new mantle that evokes powerful emotions.

Jean-Marie Schaller, Owner & Creative Director, shares the backstory: “The idea of combining a chronograph with a tourbillon is not entirely new. What does differentiate this timepiece from previous creations is its original and bold character. The first idea was to make the chronograph mechanism entirely visible on the dial side, a world premiere, in fact. The magic of a tourbillon was then added. The result is impressive, a remarkable spectacle and a feast for the eyes. A single pusher activates the chronograph hand, which ticks away the seconds and sails over the rotating flying tourbillon, whose off-centre cage does one revolution per minute. This creation was named IMPULSION, a word that highlights the energy that transfers life to the chronograph and the tourbillon and coalesces the two visual effects to produce a full-fledged “show” as it were.

At the core of the IMPULSION is the in-house Memoris calibre, bearing the Louis Moinet DNA. The movement, consisting of 301 parts, required significant innovation to incorporate the tourbillon. Notably, the “Volte-Face” double spring barrel replaces the automatic winding system, providing a power reserve of ninety-six hours.

Crafted with meticulous care, the onyx, symbolizing wisdom and balance, embellishes the inserts and the disk behind the tourbillon cage. The stone’s deep black color adds a touch of refinement and mystery.

The IMPULSION introduces a new case designed to highlight its distinctive character. Crafted from grade 5 titanium for optimal strength-to-weight ratio, the case core is available in Moinet blue or intense black, contrasting harmoniously with the 18-carat pink gold frame. The curved crystal reveals the power of the mechanism, enhancing the reading of the chronograph indications.

With meticulous high-end finishing by Louis Moinet craftsmen in collaboration with Concepto, the IMPULSION is assembled in Les Breuleux, in the Swiss Jura Mountains, proudly signed as Moinet, independent watchmaker.

In the realm of horology, the IMPULSION stands as a testament to Louis Moinet’s commitment to pushing boundaries and creating extraordinary timepieces.
