In May 2007, NOMOS launched the Club ref. 701 as an affordable entry point into the world of mechanical timekeeping. It received widespread acclaim, standing unrivaled in its category. Subsequently, in 2017, the vibrant Club Campus series was introduced, quickly gaining popularity. Year after year, new models enriched this series. The original Club was, however, removed from the NOMOS watch range. Nevertheless, numerous customers expressed their longing for the original Club’s return. Hence, NOMOS has decided to reintroduce this watch.
However, this re-release comes with a twist, incorporating the insights gained from the Club Campus and Club Sport models. While the original Club was already a classic, NOMOS aimed to infuse the knowledge acquired from their newer Club versions into the original model. For the very first time, they embarked on a revision of one of their watches, even if the changes might not be immediately evident. The dial, in particular, has undergone a meticulous redesign, including the following key alterations:
- Typography: The numerals are now more prominent, vibrant, and possess a defined outline. Both the hour numerals and indexes are now lined with Superluminova, enhancing readability, functionality, and luminescence.
- Sub-seconds dial: Enlarged and featuring numerals, the sub-seconds dial now exudes a sportier aesthetic.
- Dial overture: By moving the minute track further outward, the dial appears more open. This effect is further accentuated by shortening the minute indexes and reducing the size of the minute numerals. The “Made in Germany” inscription at six o’clock has also undergone refinement.
- Dial color: The dial is now lighter and more radiant, precisely white silver-plated.
The coordination of these individual changes required numerous intermediate steps. The outcome is a watch that is entirely new and improved while still retaining its essence. NOMOS is confident that customers will continue to appreciate the Club model in this optimized design, be it the reference 701.1 or 703.1 with a sapphire crystal glass back, for the next 15 years and beyond.
