NOMOS Glashütte has introduced the Tangente 2date, a timepiece that features two distinct date displays—one of the brand’s latest innovations. By combining a traditional date display at 6 o’clock with a ring date around the dial’s edge, the Tangente 2date offers a unique way of keeping track of both the current day and the entire month. This advancement is made possible by the newly developed DUW 4601 caliber, a hand-wound movement that integrates quick-set date functionality.
Available in two dial options—white silver-plated or galvanized blue—the Tangente 2date measures 37.5 millimeters in diameter and continues the brand’s legacy of minimalist design and precision engineering.
Dual Date Displays: An Innovation in Timekeeping
The Tangente 2date features an exclusive ring date, previously only available in the Tangente neomatik and Metro neomatik models. This is the first time the ring date has been incorporated into a hand-wound watch, thanks to the DUW 4601 caliber. The combination of the traditional date display at 6 o’clock with the ring date provides a dual perspective, allowing the wearer to view the current date and an overview of the month simultaneously.
The watch’s narrow serif numerals are consistent with the Tangente’s classic design, and they appear in both the main time display and the date window. The sub-seconds dial, which features a grooved azurage finish, adds to the watch’s detailed craftsmanship. The date ring is color-matched to the dial, ensuring legibility, whether in white or deep blue.
The movement of the Tangente 2date is visible through the sapphire crystal case back, allowing a view of the finely decorated caliber. Anti-reflective coating on the inside of the sapphire crystal ensures clarity when observing the movement.
DUW 4601 Caliber: Precision in a Slim Profile
The Tangente 2date is powered by the in-house developed DUW 4601 caliber. This hand-wound movement is just 2.8 millimeters thick, yet it offers a power reserve of 52 hours when fully wound. The movement’s architecture includes NOMOS’ proprietary swing system with a blue balance spring and a skeletonized balance cock, offering a nearly complete view of the balance wheel.
The movement’s fine sunbeam ribbing extends to the date ring plate, and the design is completed with tempered blue screws and NOMOS perlage, a decorative pattern that adorns the rhodium-plated surfaces. The Glashütte three-quarter plate, a hallmark of German watchmaking, provides structural stability to the movement. Additionally, the movement is adjusted in six positions for accuracy and includes a stop-seconds mechanism.
The quick-set date function allows for easy adjustment of the date by pulling the crown into the second of three positions and turning it forward.
