Perrelet Weekend Ice Blue

As the winter season approaches, Maison Perrelet, founded in 1777 by Abraham-Louis Perrelet, the mastermind behind the self-winding movement, enhances its esteemed “Weekend” collection with the addition of new Ice Blue dials.

Originally unveiled in 2019, the “Weekend” collection comprises dress watches with a timeless and classic appearance. The collection is characterized by a restrained and essential design, embodying a modern-retro style marked by elegance. These distinct features make the “Weekend” watches versatile for any occasion, be it at work or during leisure time.

While the collection initially featured dials in traditional shades such as black, blue, and silver, the year 2023 sees a departure towards more vibrant and luminous colors, starting with British racing green and now introducing Ice Blue. This particular shade of blue draws inspiration from nature, reminiscent of glacier depths, frost layers in pine forests, and the clouds of the cold season. In chromotherapy, Ice Blue is associated with a calming and refreshing effect, alleviating stress and instilling serenity. The domed dial of the new “Weekend” is further enhanced by a sunray finish, adding iridescent reflections.

The “Weekend Ice Blue” collection offers three versions: 3-Hands with a date display, GMT with a central hand indicating a second time zone, and 3-Hands Open Heart, revealing the balance wheel at 6 o’clock. Each model features an automatic manufacture movement exclusively developed by SOPROD, a company owned by Miguel Rodriguez, which is also affiliated with the Festina Group and the Perrelet brand.

In particular, the two ‘time-only’ “Weekend” creations are powered by the Perrelet calibre P-321, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and boasting a 42-hour power reserve. The Weekend GMT, powered by calibre P-401, shares the same technical features but allows the simultaneous display of two time zones. The 24-hour scale is prominently showcased on the dial’s central section within a satin-polished ton-sur-ton ring, indicating home time. The GMT function is easily adjusted using the crown.

The screw-secured case back features a transparent porthole, providing a glimpse of the meticulously finished movement, including circular-graining bridges and an elegant oscillating weight adorned with Maison’s logo.

The “Weekend Ice Blue” timepieces are housed in a stainless steel case, measuring 39 mm in diameter and a slim 9.56 mm in thickness, ensuring a perfect fit even on smaller wrists. The well-balanced proportions, slim bezel, bevelled lugs, and fluted crown contribute to the sophisticated and finely crafted aesthetics. Polished-satin finishes create captivating interplays of light on various surfaces.

Each timepiece in the “Weekend Ice Blue” line comes with a midnight blue calfskin strap featuring an alligator motif, secured by a personalized buckle with the Perrelet logo. Alternatively, the watches can be paired with a seven-row steel bracelet, seamlessly integrated and exceptionally comfortable. The bracelet’s geometric links, with alternating polished and brushed finishes, impart a sporty elegance to the watches.
