In 2012, Piaget marked the Lunar New Year with a special capsule collection dedicated to the Year of the Dragon. Now, as the 12-year cycle resets, Piaget reintroduces the spirit of daring creativity, sophistication, and unexpected beauty in a new Lunar New Year capsule collection dedicated to the symbolic energies of the Dragon & Phoenix.
The Dragon, a symbol of power, strength, and prosperity, takes center stage alongside the Phoenix, embodying Chinese symbolism of masculinity, femininity, strength, hope, and rebirth. Piaget’s 2012 commemorative Lunar New Year collection featured 24 references, including high watchmaking complications, Metiers d’Art timepieces, and High Jewellery secret watches. Subsequent yearly releases paid homage to each zodiac sign.
This new capsule collection, celebrating the Dragon and Phoenix, comprises 10 exceptional watches and High Jewellery pieces. Crafted with emotion and exuberance, each creation reflects Piaget’s codes while showcasing unparalleled Metiers d’Art and watchmaking savoir-faire.
Renowned enamelling master Anita Porchet, collaborating with Piaget since 2006, brings modern and ebullient expressions to two 38mm Altiplano Zodiac references. Limited to 38 pieces each, these watches depict an elegant blue Dragon or a Phoenix soaring among clouds in a mix of red, pink, and orange hues. The dials showcase Porchet’s cloisonné enamelling and signature play of light, shadow, and transparency, adding depth to the Dragon’s scales and Phoenix’s plumage.
The collection includes four new High Jewellery watches, with a 41mm Altiplano High Jewellery Dragon watch featuring Porchet’s fine paillonné enamelwork. Red lacquered eyes and a mystical black opal fireball adorn the gold-engraved Dragon. Trimmed with diamonds, the watch is powered by Piaget’s historic 830P Manufacture ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical movement, limited to eight editions.
A new Piaget Emperador watch features a gold-engraved Dragon winding around the case, onto the sides and dial, with snow-set sapphires and diamonds evoking a starry blue sky. The 46.5mm watch exemplifies the fusion of high watchmaking and inspired jewelry.
Two Phoenix High Jewellery watches offer a feminine interpretation, featuring marquise and brilliant-cut diamonds in asymmetrical motifs. Limited to eight pieces each, these watches showcase gold engraving details and come with gold bracelets.
For the first time, the capsule collection includes high jewellery creations: a unique Dragon brooch and ring, and two Phoenix earcuffs. A 4.02ct cushion-cut Mozambique ruby is the centrepiece of the bold signet ring, complemented by spessartite and spinels. A dazzling Dragon brooch encircles yellow sapphire, spessartite, and spinel cushion cuts, accompanied by round-cut rubies, spessarites, and spinels.
Earcuffs, now a Piaget signature, come in diamond and rose gold or ruby and white gold variations, with marquise, pear, and brilliant-cut diamonds dancing among exquisite gold engraving.
The collection concludes with made-to-order High Jewellery cuff watches, including an audacious Dragon cuff fringed in onyx and an engraved gold Phoenix cuff draped with rubies, sapphires, and spinels. A detachable pink feather adds a final, unexpected touch.
Radiating energy, emotion, and playful irreverence, Piaget’s Lunar New Year capsule collection signifies an exciting new cycle of the Chinese zodiac, showcasing the Maison’s mastery of creativity and daring.
