The Piaget Polo Emperador Skeleton Tourbillon High Jewellery – A Fusion of Genres

A truly rare piece, this elegant watch beguiles with its incandescent pairing of emeralds and diamonds, as well as its spectacularly complex movement, signed ‘Piaget’.

Deep within Piaget’s High Jewellery ateliers, the skilled hands of the Maison’s master jewelers breathe life into the most exquisite collections of jewelry. They transition seamlessly from crafting precious watches to creating Swinging Sautoirs, paying homage to the artistry and tradition of fashioning jewelry watches that have been at the heart of Piaget’s journey into High Jewellery since as early as 1959. Yet, the workstations of the master gem-setters are not solely reserved for jewelry; they are also graced by the distinctive watch movements that have bestowed fame upon the Maison.

Among these remarkable movements lies the renowned 1270D, a decadent reinterpretation of the initial automatic tourbillons that powered Polo Emperador timepieces, such as the 1270P or the intricately skeletonized 1270S. The 1270D is a masterpiece of intricate craftsmanship, considering that every aspect of this movement, meticulously designed from inception to completion in La Côte-Aux-Fées, is adorned with diamonds. In addition to the hundred hours already devoted to setting the movement and its casing, an additional forty hours are painstakingly dedicated to hand-setting diamonds on the captivating angles and flanks of the tourbillon, visible to the naked eye. This step necessitates unparalleled precision to avoid any distortion of its precious materials. This breathtaking craftsmanship continues until the pivotal moment when the movement is encased in this one-of-a-kind creation, with its components fitting together flawlessly. The watch dial is graced by the mesmerizing oscillating weight, also adorned with a shower of trapeze-cut emeralds. Adding a final touch of enchantment is the signature letter “P” on the flying tourbillon, serving as a seconds marker.

Available in versions embellished with diamonds, sapphires, and now emeralds, this 49mm-diameter Piaget Polo Emperador Skeleton High Jewellery watch stands alongside the architectural excellence of the Altiplano 910P, introducing a captivating new complication to the Maison’s iconic Piaget Polo collection. This timepiece bears witness to Maison Piaget’s unique history, defined by the harmonious fusion of its expertise in fine watchmaking and jewelry craftsmanship.
