Rado Diastar Original Skeleton

In 1962, when Rado introduced the first DiaStar, it caught the attention of the watch world. However, in an era dominated by conventional design, the DiaStar initially puzzled people. Its unique design, materials, exceptional durability, and resistance set it apart, marking a significant shift for the watch industry. Over time, its distinctive shape cultivated a dedicated following that has remained loyal to the iconic timepiece and the brand.

In 2022, Rado celebrated the DiaStar’s 60th anniversary by unveiling new models. The case material transitioned from tungsten carbide, a defining feature of the watch, to Rado Ceramos™. This material, known for its durability, lightness, and scratch resistance, garnered admiration from enthusiasts worldwide. Ceramos™ not only offers unparalleled wearer comfort but also a distinctive feel that must be experienced. A timepiece that sparked a design revolution decades ago proved its enduring relevance in the Rado evolution.

The Master of Materials proudly presents an update of the popular yellow-gold colored DiaStar Original, first launched in 1972. This new interpretation is the first yellow-gold colored DiaStar Original featuring a Ceramos™ bezel.

The aesthetic impact of the DiaStar Original Skeleton watch goes beyond its yellow-gold colored case. It showcases Rado’s celebrated Art of Skeletonization, revealing the anthracite-grey coated version of the R808 automatic calibre through the sapphire crystal on both the front and back of the case. The “Rado” and “DiaStar” logos are creatively printed on the inside of the front crystal. The movement, rigorously tested in five positions, features a Nivachron™ balance hairspring, enhancing its resistance to magnetic fields prevalent in daily life. With an 80-hour power reserve, the R808 movement ensures reliable performance. The watch is water-resistant to 10 bar / 100 meters.

The black dial, in sharp contrast to the case and bezel, boasts a white printed minute track and flying yellow-gold colored indexes. The hour and minute hands, along with the indexes, are coated with white Super-LumiNova®, ensuring legibility in various conditions. The dial is adorned with a gold-colored Rado anchor symbol against a red background. Presented in a polished and brushed yellow-gold colored PVD coated stainless steel bracelet with a triple-fold clasp and Rado’s EasyClip system, this DiaStar Original Skeleton offers both comfort and style.

This yellow-gold colored model, like others in the updated DiaStar Original collection, communicates the radical design DNA of its famous ancestor. Balancing muscularity with elegant contours, it features a dramatic skeletonized R808 movement, a heritage case, and a Ceramos™ bezel—a breathtaking manifestation of Rado’s founding vision: “If we can imagine it, we can make it. And if we can make it, we will.” Rado did just that.
