Seiko Astron & Presage for Japan Air Lines 70th anniversary

Seiko Astron and Seiko Presage have released collaboration limited edition models to commemorate the 70th anniversary of JAL international flights. All collaboration models share a vibrant red dial color, inspired by JAL’s logo color.

On February 2, 1954, amidst the lingering aftermath of the war, Japan aimed to rejoin the international community. In that era, JAL took flight into the world. It marked a historic moment as the first Japanese airline to operate regular international flights, symbolized by the route “Tokyo-Wake-Honolulu-San Francisco.”

Since then, JAL has responded to the needs of the times, standing behind the scenes of overseas travel, cultural exchange, and trade. Its pioneering spirit remains ingrained in our DNA, continuing to thrive. Currently, the JAL Group has established a broad overseas network, reaching 64 countries/regions and 376 airports, serving numerous customers.

Over the span of 70 years, numerous memorable stories have unfolded, a testament to our history of connecting people through travel and expanding the global network.

JAL will continue to bridge the skies and the aspirations of people worldwide.

At the 4 o’clock position, a special hand resembling an aircraft is employed. The dial features an asphalt-patterned, grooved surface reminiscent of a runway, evoking the excitement of imminent flights. Additionally, the GPS solar model includes a special AM/PM indicator in the shape of an aircraft at the 4 o’clock position.

Both models feature ceramic display plates on the bezel, indicating the airport codes of Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) (position 23: HND) and San Francisco (position 41: SFO) from the time of JAL’s international flight inauguration. (Regular models display Tokyo=TYO and Los Angeles=LAX.)

The bezel display plates adopt JAL’s corporate color, black, and draw inspiration from the aluminum alloy equipment of aircraft, utilizing aluminum.

The red color of JAL’s logo is applied to the power reserve indicator, GMT hand, and the lower part of the dial ring, creating a special color scheme.

The case back of all three models features a special design with the JAL logo and serial number.

A special sustainable-themed package is provided for all three models. The watch case, made of 100% recycled nylon, can also be used as a travel pouch. Additionally, it includes a JAL-original card case made from the same leather material as the first-class seats of JAL domestic AIRBUS A350 aircraft.
