“ONE & TWO ACADEMIC ROUGE: A French Elegance Tale”
At the Watches & Wonders 2023 event, Speake Marin unveiled a pair of exquisite timepieces that epitomize the contrasting allure of white and black. These timepieces are known as the ONE & TWO ACADEMIC White and ACADEMIC Black Tie.
Taking us on an intriguing journey, Speake Marin now encourages contemplation of the harmonious fusion of audacity and elegance, centered around a single color: red. Red, the most attention-grabbing hue on the spectrum, carries a multitude of associations, ranging from stimulation to nobility. It serves as a symbol of passion, love, and courage. Beyond its mystical energy, red exudes an emotional aura of confidence, strength, and desire. Here, passion and elegance unite to craft an unmistakable style, known in France as “l’art de vivre,” a style celebrated and admired worldwide.

However, let’s clarify this point: within the spectrum of red, there exist numerous variations. The challenge lies in pinpointing the perfect one, the shade that stands out, captivating us with its unique sense of sophistication.
Speake Marin has opted for Pantone shade 188C to embody its latest creation, the ACADEMIC Rouge. Pantone characterizes this hue as “a medium dark shade of pink-red,” reminiscent of a radiant ruby. Much like the refinement and grace found in a deep, red wine, when applied to the dial of our Academic Rouge, this color becomes even more refined and vibrant thanks to the addition of lacquer.
THE MOVEMENT
Fueled by the in-house Calibre SMA03 automatic movement, featuring a seamlessly integrated micro-rotor, the ACADEMIC ROUGE timepiece boasts an impressive 52-hour power reserve. The movement is meticulously adorned and meticulously angled with haute horlogerie finishing, providing a captivating view through the transparent crystal back.
Offered in unlimited editions and available in both 38 mm and 42 mm diameter sizes, the ACADEMIC ROUGE will be accessible starting September 13, 2023.
