Speake Marin Minute Repeater Carillon

Speake Marin has introduced its latest masterpiece in the world of watchmaking, ‘The Minute Repeater Carillon,’ a remarkable fusion of innovation and precision. This groundbreaking creation marks a significant milestone for Speake Marin’s expertise, being the inaugural Minute Repeater Carillon watch meticulously crafted by their workshop, “Le Cercle des Horlogers.”

This exceptional timepiece serves as a testament to the commitment of Speake Marin to Haute Horlogerie. The ‘Piccadilly’ case, featuring platinum bezel, titanium (Grade 5) side case, and a caseback available in either sapphire or platinum with a sapphire glass, showcases the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship. The case construction, with its varied materials, plays a pivotal role in influencing the note of the minute repeater chime.

The dial of the ‘Minute Repeater Carillon’ is graced with a 60-second flying tourbillon visible at 6 o’clock, balancing the overall design. Activating the Minute Repeater Carillon mechanism through sliders reveals its captivating structure at 12 o’clock. The movement’s appealing design not only counterbalances the tourbillon at 6 o’clock but also enhances the various components essential for a carillon minute repeater watch.

Highlighting the animation of the 12-hour markers collapsing during chiming, it’s crucial to note that this doesn’t impact the watch’s timekeeping. The independent movement architecture allows the watch to chime up to 3 times per minute, showcasing Speake Marin’s contemporary interpretation aligned with the 17th-century original purpose, improved by A. Louis Breguet.

The minute repeater is powered by the in-house calibre SMAHH-02, a manual movement assembled over a month by master watchmakers at Le Cercle des Horlogers. Apart from timekeeping adjustments, the minute repeater rhythm is meticulously set at 18 seconds for 12H59, respecting the resonance of the complication in a dynamic manner.

Regulator arms, designed for quiet operation, play a vital role in setting the minute repeater regulation. The rhythm adjustment is achieved by altering the extension of the arms, providing flexibility in chiming speed. The three hammers, connected to a block, create chimes whose tone is influenced by the exceptional hardness of sapphire.

In terms of safety, three modules are integrated to protect the caliber from potential damage due to incorrect manipulation. The meticulous decoration of the caliber includes hand-polished black surfaces, Côtes de Genève on the bridges, circular satin finish on gears, and hand-circular graining on the main plate.

Priced at CHF 360,000 (excluding taxes), The Minute Repeater Carillon is set to captivate even the most discerning collectors with its exceptional aesthetics and unparalleled craftsmanship. For further information, please visit Speake-Marin.com.
