The Exquisite Case
With the Sandblasted Openworked timepieces, Speake-Marin unveils a refined masterpiece. The iconic Piccadilly case, rejuvenated by renowned designer Eric Giroud in 2017, is meticulously crafted in polished grade 5 titanium or 18k red gold. These watches are available in two sizes: 38 mm and 42 mm, featuring a slender 10.5 mm thickness. Both the dial and case back are shielded by sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment.
A Dial of Distinction
The art of sandblasting imparts a unique, uniform texture that exudes both ruggedness and elegance. The finishing touches on visible movement components, polished beveled bridges, and apertures on the display reveal the intricate artistry of our skilled craftsmen. Matte black minute markers and a small seconds counter at 1:30 are meticulously applied using an innovative 3D technique.
To ensure optimal legibility and aesthetic harmony, the seconds hand, and the heart-shaped central hour and minute hands are polished black in the titanium version and gold-coated in the red gold variant.
The Exceptional SMA01 Movement
At the heart of the Sandblasted Titanium and Sandblasted Red Gold watches lies the self-winding in-house calibre SMA01. This ingenious movement, boasting a fully integrated micro-rotor, enables a slimmer case profile. It was painstakingly designed and meticulously assembled by the renowned workshop “Le Cercle des Horlogers” in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Operating at 4Hz with 28,800 vibrations per hour, this single-barrel movement ensures a generous 52-hour power reserve.
The new SMA01 calibre showcases exceptional watchmaking decorations, visible through the sapphire crystal porthole. From sandblasted bridges with polished chamfered profiles to the sunray and microbeaded finishes on the oscillating mass, every detail is adorned with the brand’s logo topping tool and secured by a bridge with vertical satin finish. Both components feature polished beveled edges and are luxuriously gold-coated. The meticulous attention to finishing and decoration extends to the Ø2 mm circular-graining motif on the back of the dial, engraved values on the barrel, polished screws, and more.
The engraving on the barrel, prominently visible at 5 o’clock on the dial side, embodies the eight fundamental values of Speake Marin: RESPECT, INDEPENDENCE, LIBERTE, UNIQUE, AUTHENTICITE, GENEVE, CREATIVITE, MODERNITE. These values represent Maison Speake Marin in its past, present, and future, defining the essence of their creations. Additionally, the inclusion of jewels adds a touch of color to the calibre.
The Stylish Strap
Both versions are paired with a grey or black leather strap, respectively fastened by an 18K red gold pin buckle or a titanium folding buckle, harmonizing with the case materials.
