Speake Marin embarks on a new creative journey with the Ripples Collection, a sport-chic line that marks the brand’s first venture into bracelet watches, all crafted in steel. The La City case, inspired by London’s financial district architecture, and the distinctive three-dimensional ‘ripples’ on the dial define this collection, fusing British roots with contemporary design.
Launched and developed over the course of a year, from March 2022 to March 2023, the Ripples Collection boasts four distinct variations. The inaugural piece, RIPPLES Black Original, debuted at Watches & Wonders 2022, followed by the steel and gold masterpiece, RIPPLES Gold Anniversary, commemorating the brand’s 20th year. Watches & Wonders 2023 unveiled two additional variations: the casual-chic RIPPLES Blue Jeans and the business-focused RIPPLES Date. Each creation showcases Speake Marin’s ability to innovate and captivate, capturing unique moods with timeless allure.
The latest addition to the collection, the Ripples Metallic Green, introduces a refreshing metallic green dial, symbolizing renewal and serenity. This timepiece is designed to bring the tranquility of an urban oasis, inspired by London’s Sky Garden, to your wrist.
CREATIVE INSPIRATION
The Ripples Metallic Green draws inspiration from the hidden beauty of London’s Sky Garden, creating a serene garden oasis within the bustling cityscape. The metallic green dial with its distinctive “Ripples” finish reflects a harmonious blend of nature’s beauty and urban energy. Speake Marin invites wearers to carry a piece of this serene atmosphere wherever they go, encapsulating a sense of wonder and escape.
THE CASE: A FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENT
Designed by Stéphane Lacroix, the “La City” case seamlessly blends round and square shapes, crafted from polished/satin-brushed stainless steel. The octagonal bezel, protected screw-down crown, and transparent case back with anti-reflective sapphire crystal reveal the meticulously designed in-house movement. With dimensions carefully engineered for a casual-chic style, the Ripples Metallic Green boasts a diameter of 40.30 mm and a thickness of 9.20 mm, striking a perfect balance between presence and wearability.
The water-resistant design up to 5 ATM ensures protection in moisture and water-related environments, preserving the optimal functioning of the mechanism. The three-link bracelet in polished/satin-finished stainless steel, closed by a folding clasp, integrates seamlessly into the case, providing a stunning visual balance.
THE DIAL: METALLIC GREEN ELEGANCE
Crafting the unique metallic green hue of the dial involves a complex and precise process. The rhodium-plated brass plate, engraved with hand satin-finish horizontal waves covered with metallic green PVD coating, creates a dynamic interplay of lights and shadows. The heart-shaped, rhodium-plated central hour and minute hands pay homage to Speake Marin’s British origins, while the small seconds at 1:30 showcase the brand’s distinctive signature.
THE MOVEMENT
The Ripples Metallic Green is powered by the in-house self-winding movement, calibre SMA03-T, featuring a fully integrated micro-rotor in tungsten. The calibre, comprising 144 components, is meticulously developed, assembled, and tested at the Speake Marin Swiss-based workshop. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and equipped with 31 jewels, the movement ensures smooth functioning and longevity, running for 52 hours when fully wound.
Available from November 16, 2023, in a limited edition of 60 pieces, the Ripples Metallic Green embodies Speake Marin’s commitment to horological excellence, with a recommended retail price of CHF23,000 excl. taxes.
