MoonSwatch Mission on Earth

Swatch Introduces Three New Bioceramic MoonSwatch Models: A Tribute to Earth’s Natural Wonders

Swatch has unveiled three new models in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection, celebrating the beauty of our planet with the MISSION ON EARTH – LAVA, MISSION ON EARTH – POLAR LIGHTS, and MISSION ON EARTH – DESERT watches.

Throughout history, people have marveled at the sight of Earth from above, with astronauts frequently noting the Blue Planet as the most beautiful view from space. Astronaut Alan Shepard once said, “When I first looked back at the Earth, standing on the moon, I cried.” Inspired by such profound admiration, these non-limited edition watches pay homage to Earth’s natural phenomena: volcanic lava, the Aurora Borealis, and vast deserts.

MISSION ON EARTH – LAVA

Inspired by the intense red and orange hues of volcanic lava, the 42 mm Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – LAVA captures the captivating and dangerous beauty of volcanoes. This model is a nod to OMEGA’s 1968 Speedmaster Moonwatch “Ultraman” with its distinctive orange chronograph hand. Volcanic activity, with roughly 1,670 active volcanoes worldwide, highlights Earth’s dynamic nature, a theme echoed in this watch’s design.

MISSION ON EARTH – POLAR LIGHTS

Celebrating the Aurora Borealis, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – POLAR LIGHTS features a turquoise color scheme reminiscent of the Northern Lights’ vibrant displays. The blue dial, adorned with tiny silver-colored flakes inspired by aventurine glass, mimics a star-studded sky, making each watch unique. This model draws design elements from OMEGA’s Alaska II and III projects, with radial numerals and indexes on its subdials.

MISSION ON EARTH – DESERT

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – DESERT embodies the vast expanses of sand that cover a fifth of Earth’s landmass. The sand-colored case and hands, combined with a greige (taupe) dial and strap, evoke the world’s largest desert, the Sahara. This watch’s design reflects the harsh, extreme conditions of desert climates, from scorching daytime heat to freezing nighttime temperatures.

All three models feature the mission statement on the caseback, the OMEGA X SWATCH logos on the dial and crown, and a design of planet Earth on each battery cover. The watches come with adjustable VELCRO® straps, suitable for spacesuits and featuring topstitching in matching colors. The hands and indexes are coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova® for a perfect glow-in-the-dark effect.

These new models retain the signature features of the original OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch, including the asymmetrical case, renowned tachymeter scale with the dot over 90, and typical Speedmaster subdials. The Bioceramic construction, a mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biosourced materials from castor oil, ensures high-quality and environmentally conscious watchmaking.

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION ON EARTH – LAVA, – POLAR LIGHTS, and – DESERT will be available starting Saturday, June 15, exclusively in selected Swatch stores. As with the entire Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, purchases are limited to one watch per person, per day, per Swatch store.
