Snowboard star Mia Brookes joins Swatch Proteam

Swatch proudly introduces Mia Brookes, the burgeoning snowboard sensation, as their latest addition to the Proteam athlete roster. At just 17 years old, Mia, a British athlete, is reshaping the landscape of women’s snowboarding, breaking records and setting new standards with her unique style and remarkable performances.

Mia’s journey with Swatch began at the age of seven when she purchased her first Swatch watch at Geneva Airport after a snowboarding holiday. “I’ve been a huge fan ever since and I’m super excited to be working alongside Swatch and the Proteam for the future!”

Swatch has been following Mia’s career closely since witnessing her skills firsthand at The Nines in 2022, where she executed her first 1260. Her exceptional talent was further recognized when she won the Rider’s Award for Best Style and was hailed as Ruler of the Week by her peers.

Introduced to snowboarding at just 18 months old at her local indoor ski center in England, Mia’s potential was evident from the start. Despite age restrictions limiting her participation in major competitions, she has since emerged as a dominant force in the snowboarding world.

In 2022, Mia made her international debut and achieved victory in the FIS Junior World Championships in Big Air, followed by a second-place finish in slopestyle. However, it was in 2023 that Mia truly left her mark on the sport. At the FIS Freestyle World Championships, she made history by becoming the youngest-ever snowboard World Champion, the first British person to win a snowboard slopestyle World Championship, and the first woman to land a 1440 rotation in competition. Additionally, she secured overall victory in the FIS Big Air World Cup, earning accolades such as Young Sportswoman of the Year by The Times newspaper and BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2023 in the UK.

Continuing her momentum into 2024, Mia clinched her first X-Games gold medal in Aspen, fulfilling one of her lifelong snowboarding dreams. With her sights set on the next Winter Olympics, Mia aims to achieve another milestone victory.

Despite her rapid ascent to stardom, Mia remains grounded, known for her down-to-earth personality both on and off the slopes. When she’s not snowboarding, Mia enjoys skateboarding, playing the guitar, and listening to heavy metal music.

Mia will make her debut as a Swatch Proteam athlete at Swatch Nines Snow in Schilthorn, Switzerland, in April 2024. As she prepares to explore the unique course and connect with fellow Proteam athletes, Swatch eagerly anticipates witnessing Mia’s creativity and skill in action.

In addition to expressing herself on the slopes, Mia showcases her individuality through her choice of Swatch watches, including DRAGON IN GOLD, LOVE O’CLOCK, and WHAT IF…GREEN?

Swatch is thrilled to welcome Mia onboard as the newest Swatch Proteam athlete and looks forward to witnessing her future achievements. The future of snowboarding shines brightly with Mia leading the charge.
